I'm cogitation on getting this lens, if I can ever try it out first for weight/size... My question today is if you own this lens and have 1 or two Teleconverters could you stick up a full sized test image or two so I can see what the image degradation is like in the real world? I've heard the corners can get really soft with a TC (even on a crop) and would like to see what it is like myself.

Ideally someone with a crop Nikon could post up an image at 300mm and then with the 1.4TC and a 2x TC!

I would be interested in seeing this, as I am also considering this lens and a 1.4x TC.

Not a full size image but about a 50% crop using a 2X, and I suggest you stop pixel peeping :)

Ken, how do you find the focus speed with the 2x?

I've heard there's a new version of the OS coming out. Any idea on pricing and availability? What are major differences?
I'm confused between this lens and the 200/f2!

Thanks, however what is it like when its blown up to A2 size (for example), or at 2560x1400 which is my desktop resolution. I wouldn't say I was a pixelpeeker but small online images can do anything justice. You could shoot through a (clear!) dustbin lid and still get a sharp images... (ok I'm joking there ). That's why I'm interested in some proper full size real world shots. :) I'm not looking for works of art, just a few real world shots (of a back garden?) that I can look at, especially for corner sharpness which mtf charts suggest is terrible at 2x (but may not actually be relevant in real world conditions).

Id also be I retested to know how much of a hit the AF takes as well. :)

Apologies if that last post is a bit blunt, I'm at work so need to be quick when replying!

Apparently in spring, but that could be anything between late feb to June... I'm hoping the former as it is weather sealed (the current one isn't) and I'm hoping it may drive down prices (and create more availability) of the current OS on the used market. I'm guessing it will be at least £2200 and quite potentially £3000 if Sigma think it is a real jump up.
