Yes
Having not been able to get out much with the camera lately I though I'd go back over some of my old shots and see if there would be any I could re-do or see if there were any good one I'd missed at the time I took.

Going through them though I just found my self thinking "what was I doing there" "thats complete  why did I think that was any good".

I guess it all come down to progress and development but I'd never though I'd be this harsh on my own work . Has anyone else had this with their own?

Been there, still doing that!
I started a thread on another forum ( Pentax User ), Titled, "How Pentax User ruined my photographs". Called it that to get it noticed! But it was true. Having learned a bit, I couldn't look at my old photos without seeing all the faults!

Same here too... A few years ago I started shooting at gigs I went to (just from the crowd) and at first thought I was getting some good results. By comparison with what I can get now, even using the same small camera, they were pants.

As you say - it's a mark of your own progress and improvements.

I think it's just a progress of learning. I think being critical is the only way we can improve. I wouldn't be finding old pictures not that good if I hadn't improved my knowledge and ability. Don't despair though guys it's nothing to do with buying a dSLR all a dSLR did was give you more options to expand and develope.

Oh heck yes!

Still doing it 20D.........5D.........1Ds.... Each has been it's very own learning experience and then when you add composition, posing and lighting on top, that's an awful lot of learning. Not done yet by any means!

Just got a Sigma 10-20 and that providing a new curve for me. The learning never ends :)

I think you've only got to start worrying if you look at your old pictures and start thinking you can't improve on them, strive for perfection and one day you'll get it... practise makes perfect as they say :)

Im not of the opinion that its a learning curve which is the problem. I'm wondering if its more that you miss the versatility of a pocket/bridge camera, fed up with changing lenses and carrying the weight around.

Plus it could be the more pictures you look at on the net the worse you think yours are

I agree although as a plus point is sounds as though you have improved so now you're looking back at old work and thinking it's not great.

I'm my worst critic too but it tends to be straight from camera that I give myself a beating.

Absolutely spot on.

I get loads of inspiration from other peeps pics, trying to work out what they did, how it works and examining the Exif. Then compare to some of mine in disperse. Its all a huge learning curve, that we all go through. :gag:

There is nothing in this world stopping you from having your camera with you whenever you want except you.

Your dead longer than your alive, go shoot some ****, your best shot is always the one you are going to take, why would you try to go backwards.

Stop bitching fool and show some attitude, go forward.

You all seen the Snickers ad's right
