Outdoor flash & WB question.

Evening all,

Just a quickie,

I know its important when shooting indoors under tungsten, halogen etc, to gel your flash accordingly so as to balance out the temperature of the flash with the ambient

Is this the same when outdoors using fill flash? I feel like this is a stupid question, and i'v totally missed something somewhere, so I'll probably regret asking this in the morning :nuts:

Electronic flash and 'typical' daylight are both the same colour temp Rob at around 5000 -5500 degs kelvin. 'Typical' daylight is usually taken to mean at noon with the sun overhead, but the actual temperature of daylight can vary from around 2000 degs K in the early morning up to 10000 degs and more for a sunset. Daylight exposure film had a nominal colour temp of 5500K (the same as electronic flash) and was and is used for all colour temp variations of 'daylight'. I don't think anything has changed significantly with digital, so go ahead and use your flash.
