Hi,
I am looking to buy a backpack to accomodate my camera when I go in the hills, I was looking at the Lowepro Primus AW Back Pack, does anybody have any feedback or advice please.
TIA

Not with this backpack especially, can recommend the Lowepro Mini Trecker AW or the Micro Trekker if you want something a little smaller.

I've got the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW and its great; comfortable, well balanced and plenty of storage space both for camera gear and other odds and sods.
I suppose it all depends on the amount of gear you will be taking out but this backpack is small enough to carry around all day and holds a fair amount of stuff.

I also use the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW - purchased off Amazon last year, and have been happy with it ever since. Its been through some pretty awful weather when I've been out hiking, and none of my camera equipment has got wet or been damaged. There's lots of room for a body and a few lenses, and you can completely customise the layout of the interior, because all the compartments are secured (very firmly) by velcro. I really like the tripod holder on the back, though it can be a bit fiddly.

I'm able to keep my entire camera kit in it. Others made need something bigger, but if you're out hiking for a day or two, I think it'll do everything you need.

I've not used the Primus AW, but Lowepro kit is excellent in my experience - I'm sure it'll be great, so long as its big enough for what you want to carry.

A Canon 400 and a couple of lenses is all really, nothing too serious, I just need something to take the camera lenses, sarnies and waterproofs.
Thanks for the replies so far, they all help.

I have the Primus AW.

I think it's great. Two compartments - bottome for camera gear and top for waterproofs, sarnies, etc.

Compartment access secure.

A good bag but not a small bag.

I just got the primus this week - paid £57 off fleabay - which I thought was a good deal.

I am still making my mind up - and may move it on, as I don't think it has enough room for a) my gear and b) my waterproofs, sarnies, flask. I was disappointed by the "quick" access side pocket. My 40d gripped simply doesn't fit - and ungripped it catches as well.

One thing I will say is the quality is superb - but i could do with just a bit more space. Also having carried it today for the first time - it is very comfortable as a backpack.

I have the Redsnapper original version of the verso HERE and it's a cracking bag! It has never let water into the compartments even without the outer cover on and has plenty of room for w/proof/sarnies/flask/1st aid kit etc. AND you get 10% of for being a TP member!
ps: I also have a Lowepro Fastpack 250 which is good, but not as big as the Redsnapper.

Edit: If you do get one with the Laptop slot, they are VERY handy for Sitmat/Maps/Guidebooks etc!!

Thnks for the advice, I went for the Primus, will let you know what I think.

go for one with separate compartments and pockets
i have 2 air packs and one has the above...the other is just a big sack..not good
