someone throw me something to shoot that I should find challenging (that can be shot within 24-200mm on ff)also my darkroom lacks curtains so isn't a darkroom so film is on hold for now

other than that go for it :D

What sort of stuff do you normally shot?

people, with clothes on, often with lights

birding bores me to ****ing tears lowfly is only fun until you come to the curshing realisation you're sitting on a mountain with plane nerds, I like landscape but I'm just not very good at it.

Have you tried macro? That is my latest challenge and it isnt easy to get the great shots that others on here manage. I dont know if you have the equipemt for it but, if you dont have and cant afford a macro lens some people manage to get good shots with ordinary lenses and extension tubes.

macro sounds like fun, can build some lighting stuff in

Would I be better off with tubes on my 24-70 (goes a bit macro) or 85 (a prime but not small mfd) ?

tbh minxy I completely fail to be exited by all but the best shots of animals (just bought my sis equus (sp?) by time flach which is just outstanding

ok actually rethink I might go for animal portraiture in more his style and see how badly I **** up :p

hehehehe lets see what I can rig in the temporary studio line , do I have anything big enough for a wolfhound :p

Naked wimmin, probably been a while since you've seen one of them so should be right out of your comfort zone trying to photograph one;)

I figured you were fair game out in the wild.

Forget photographing stuff, concentrate on the important things like gear acquisition and finishing your darkroom off. Photography is over-rated anyway;)

What about naked men .... assuming you are not gay that's probably even further out of your comfort zone.

If not how about focusing on a technique, say panning, doesn't require any new equipment and can be used to creative effect on future people shoots.

people, with clothes on

there's an obvious change that you can make to this one.

and nothing that needs more kit ;) Concept an idea, budget it, location scout it, shoot it :)

aye got all the kit I need for almost everything bar a monobloc

dicking around with a speedlight really really high in the trees which was kinda funky but not 'quite right'

I think planning is the skill to push, completely plan out a few shots then go do it :D

1/2 CTO gel it, and put a stofen on it. Oh, and buy a smoke machine ;)

Get some tubes to see if you like it, then get a lens if you do. No point spending loads of money on a lens for you to decide that macro bores you in a couple of weeks, which it may well do. TBH I have a 50mm macro and that does most of my stuff, but occasionally I'll put tubes on that (they're only a tenner or so on fleabay) to get closer. The camera still auto focuses with a macro lens and extention tubes, not sure about other lenses though

If you're not excited by animal shots unless they're mighty fine, I reckon that's a fair challenge

I kinda changed my own mind half way though writing that reply :p

Second curtain flash action zoom-burst (of a clothed person) with neon/city lights backdrop.

That's what I want to try with my car.

If you really want to push your comfort zone, turn the camera towards yourself..and push the limits of what you are comfortable with showing of yourself, ie dig deep and get down to who you are warts and all.

I tried it and found it quite liberating, I'm still exploring it now and pushing myself to reveal more of myself
