Nice set up indeed, did you fit or consider doing the walls in accoustic plasterboard? in the first stages of fitting sound deadening at home

Both false walls and the false-ceiling have at least 10cm of sound deadening. :)

Nice thread was an interesting read.

Didnt see what insulation you used though? I have lined the roof with accoustic insulation, just debating weather to use standard plaster board (unlikely) or Lafarge DB board or Knuaff soundshield. Although my effort wont be anything like your setup.

any dense rockwool will do for insulation in the walls (technically its not sound-deadening, its sound proofing) if you then cover the walls with soundcheck plasterboard, 2 layers, and ensure all the edges are sealed..if you want to keep all the noise in consider using mlv or damping compound to further improve the levels of transmission loss. for the roof, id use resilient bars to hang the plasterboards on..

Cool thanks, the compound is a new one on me shall have to look into that bit.

Was planning on using resilient bars, the roof is my main cause for concern due to neighbours the walls seem pretty good as they are but are getting done most likely after the roof though. As funds allow.

b&q were doing gyproc soundbloc for about £8ish a sheet if you buy 5 or more. We have just done our living room party wall as a tester using gyproc triline - plasterboard backed with mineral wool as we've only about 2" to the door frame....pretty impressed by it so far but an expensive option.
 
how much did that cost Walls?
 
I think it worked out at around £28 including vat for a sheet of 2400X900mm stuck to the wall with their sealant through cpd in bristol. Very impressed by the quality and its performance for such a thin layer. Where there are no other options due to lack of space it's all I could do really. I suspect kanuf or lafarge do similar for cheaper though.
 
thats not a bad price, i couldnt find any performance figures for it though
