Our Cat is starting to Bite

She still has about 20 teeth - plenty enough to bite with. She just doesn't feel the need to bite us any more.

Maybe her thought process went...`Hmmm, bite = vets = teeth extractions. Maybe no more biting is best!` :D

Just caught the cat and dog staring each other out, a stern voice from the missus soon snapped them out of it...

Do the dog and cat normally get on?

Sounds like there's a source of stress somewhere.

I had an allergic reaction to a cat bite -

Probably more of an infection rather than allergic. Cats mouths are rife with bacteria.

My sister has had several trips to A&E from bites over the years (one of our old cats was a mistreated rescue and tablet time was always a challenge) leading to bad infections.

Had the cat and dog from tiny pup and kitten, they have always got on very well and played together. Just the cat seems to be getting very bossy as he is getting older. Maybe he fancies himself as the top cat, as opposed to her being the top dog

It amazes me what people let cats get way with as if a dog was doing this you'd get them muzzled.

A few years ago my Sister & BIL took on 3 cats from a rescue centre. One of them was a devil cat! Biting, scratching, peeing & pooing. After a couple of months the BIL could take no more, but instead of getting in touch with the rescue centre, he decided to take it out in the car one night & a few miles away it err, got out somehow.

A few days later they received a phone call to say their cat had been found! Ha, it had been `chipped` :$ :D

They did finish up ringing the rescue centre & took it back.

The more satisfying end to that story would have been the cat returning with a baseball bat and a few mates, and dispensing a little feline justice on BIL for being a nobhead.

Strange that I have never had a bad reaction to any of the dog bites I've had, just that one damn cat :banghead:

Probably because dogs are cleaner than they used to be, not like getting bit in the old days from a street dog.

Some of them have been street roaming strays that come into rescue
