Ouch

As I said, you have done NOTHING against it.

Just because someone doesn't protest against it, it's doesn't preclude them from being against it...

You can dress it up in all the fancy words you like ... it's animal torture for entertainment, pathetic!

and I do protest against it.

Of course it doesn't. Yet he's so against it that he hasn't even dropped a letter into the French Embassy. If he was really so against it it would be worth the cost of a stamp.

Nothing soft at all. I don't support it, pay to watch it and I speak out about it as I am doing now ... I cannot control what happens in the barbaric areas of this world - you are just deflecting criticism from something that is barbaric animal torture and that you enjoy watching.
How someone can enjoy animal torture for entertainment is beyond my understanding and nothing that you can say or do will change it from being the barbaric animal torture that it is.

Is Spain really Barbaric?Bit skint post recession maybe, Barabric, not. A country rich with heritage and culture. Its very little englander to dismiss other peoples activities in their own country as Barbaric.

TBH though, I couldnt give a monkeys about animal rights, halal, animal testing, hunting etc other than the erosion of these activities.

matador steaks all round this weekend then ……. or did he live

Go to Spain, Portugal, France, or fund protest groups if you feel that strongly about it.

Yes of course, leave my home family etc ... I don't need to do any of those pointless things, any reasonable person views animal torture as barbaric - it is to the shame of those countries that they continue to allow and support it.

Bull fighting isn't something that is a regular part of british life so it's only really when stories like this enter the discussion of the general populous that people will discuss it...there's terrible actions happen daily all across the world but unless it is at the forefront of our daily lives the likelihood is we don't concern ourselves with it let alone take positive action against it...

There are anti-bullfighting organisations Gramps, you could support one of them. Or, as I mentioned above, a letter to the Embassies of France, Spain, Mexico, Peru et al would be something....

Ah I see. Not against it all the time, just when it's in the news. Got it.

Stop deflecting the argument - it's barbaric animal torture that you and hundreds like you enjoy watching.

I am not deflecting anything Gramps. I am just pointing out that you are so indignantly against it that you've been paralyzed from actually doing anything against it!

Maybe you would like to defend the enjoyment you get from watching the animals suffer torture and death unnecessarily?

Gramps, you know something. I am not barbaric. I am a normal father of 3 kids, a regular guy.

Anyone who enjoys watching animals suffer torture and death is barbaric ... father, family etc are irrelevant.

Wow you really are a lovely chap aren't you, so as far as your concerned unless someone actively protests something then their views have not value? Because that's how you are coming across in this thread

I did answer that in post 79.

No you didn't you just waffled about the matadors ... what gives you a kick about seeing an animal stabbed repeatedly and then put to death as an entertainment?

In your opinion, its a show down of man vs beast, a drama, a complete spectical. I saw one on the TV, it was enthralling. Would the guy make it away from the charging bull or would it get him.

I'd love to see it in person.
Its a bit like watching man vs food, what will win, food, or Adam. Its no different

In my opinion and in the opinion of millions of other right-minded people.

It is totally barbaric and it makes you wonder why we have not progressed out of it - they love it in Southern France …….. but they are French anyway and never progress out of very much

I agree with Gramps ……… it should have been stopped by now …… people going to watch animals, (or a man), being killed is the same as some of the stuff that go on on the web …. unhealthy, but I still reckon some go just to watch men dressed in womens clothes!!!

What I am pointing out Matthew (and I am sure that you already know this) is that it does seem a tad odd that someone can profess to be so anti-something in this forum, yet outside of the forum they do absolutely nothing about it. That's not unreasonable you know. It's why we've all just voted.

Casual racism? Whats next, cos they eat Frois gras, its delicous and wonderful. The EU will kill that off too. No fox hunting, no frois gras, no max speed autobahns (the germans are going soft) and no bull fighting.

Everyones gone all soft and sanctimonious

Actually no I didn't. So, I repeat what I wrote then:
No one goes to a corrida de toros because they enjoy "seeing animals tortured" (yes we'll use your own words). They go to see something of which you are totally clueless. They go to see the skill and artistry of the torero. In fact the crowds petition to allow particularly brave bulls walk free, which they do. If the torero fails to kill the bull quickly and cleanly the air is full of whistling and cat-calls. Contrary to what you say (from the ignorance of never attending nor knowing nothing about bullfighting) those "backward" people actually do vocalise their displeasure and seeing the estocada (the final bit) done badly.

I live in France so it comes from experience ….. they are marvellous people, I eat foie gras, (OK I know this predictive text is a b****r), they fox hunt in France as well as other stuff ……….. there's no speed limited on the Autoroutes - you just get "flashed" and become a "flasher" and pay the fine …… I love La Belle, it is my home … no casual racism in France, they take the subject really seriously!!!

Self-justification, nothing more ... yes I'm clueless about how anyone could receive pleasure in watching an animal being tortured, how anyone could view that barbaric torture as "artistry" ... to me these people are sick!

TBH Steve, a blind man on a galloping horse can see that all Steve cares about is Steve.

You ask for an explanation, I give it to you, you choose to ignore it. Fine. But, just for the record, I do not go to bullfights (nor do I know anyone who does) to watch "an animal being tortured". I know that is the truth, and you have chosen to disbelieve me. That's fair enough Gramps.

You get them gramps, they are just wrong ……… and happy to stick a napkin in their shirt neck and b****r off to the nearest restaurant as soon as "the show" is over for their Steak/frites

Ah so you are immune to the animal's suffering in your search for "artistry" and so chose to ignore it ... I wonder how many other barbaric events in history were similarly excused.

You're confusing the encierro of Pamplona with a corrida de toros.

I get it, you don't approve of it. Thats fine, you never have, never will. Thats ok.

Others do, I'm really exciting to see one live.
