Ouch

Agree ^

Bulls 3 - Matadors 0.
Result.

viven los toro's!

They are not brave, they are barbaric.
each and every one of them desrves it if they get mauled like that.
I cant stand it, and cant understand why ANYONE could be entertained by it.
its disgusting.

Totally agree with this sentiment. And by association, the people who watch and are entertained by it ... Sickening and disgraceful.

Just out of interest, do you mind me asking why?

It's an old tradition, a big part of their culture and i teckon it would be exciting to see ...I would like to see one and try take a few images too. It'll probably end up banned.

I was only in Spain for a few days in Barcelona and I couldn't track one down.

I have no issue with it really as it's part of their tradition and heritage. I should imagine the pinko's will get their way and it'll be consigned to the annals of history tho.

We used to dunk suspected witches, send children up chimneys and numerous other fun things - perhaps we should have kept them in the spirit of tradition and heritage.

There is always a case for it.

Bull fighting is a proper spectacle I reckon. I hope the Spanish fight to keep it.

At least in time for my 2016 Spanish holiday taking in landscapes and cityscapes over there.

:agree: It's certainly not for us to interfere. We can have opinions on it but really it's for the Spanish to decide if they want to keep it. I'd like to go to one if I was over there.

Why not? Isn't that what being in the EU is all about?

Yeh well the sooner we get out of that the better. Politics:rolleyes:

I'd no more want to dictate what the Spanish should do i their own country than I relish being told what to do in our country by the Eurocrats.

That was because the Catalan government banned it in a cynical anti-Madrid move a few years ago.

You don't even have to go to Spain to experience it. I see no one here knows that Spanish-style bullfights also take place in Southern France where it also has protected legal status.

Corrected for you :)

In this case you're wrong. It was a purely political anti-Madrid move and nothing to do with animal welfare. If you think otherwise then explain to us (and to the other Spanish comunidades) why the Catalan Generalitat decided AFTER debate not to ban bous embolats?
Having spent years there and closely following the politicking of President Artur Mas, I can guarantee the move was political.

It was tongue in cheek - hence the smiley - although from a personal viewpoint correct :)

Germany 1938/39?
Seems a good enough reason to meddle in the affairs of other countries. Extreme example I know.

Didn't I read somewhere, recently, that bullfighting has been given "cultural heritage" (or something) status, to protect
it from other "political fuelled bans" ?

Edit, found it HERE

Let's hope the bulls have a few more successes and they decide to ban bullfighting due to cruelty to matedors.

Indeed. The same in the South of France, where it's outlawed in the rest of the country.

Nasty and cruel so-called "sport". Shows how brave the matadors are when hundreds of animals are tortured and killed in the bull fights every years. Yet a few matadors get injured and the event is cancelled.

I suppose we should remember that the production of meat involves worse cruelty on a vastly bigger scale.

Despite what some insist it is not a sport. Not my opinion but its legal status. You won't find news of the corridas in the sports pages either. The event was cancelled because there are 3 toreros per corrida. All three were hospitalised so it had to be cancelled.

Your last sentence is the most interesting.

Their choice to fight, they win some, they lose some.

You’re suggesting the bulls have a choice? Really? Being Bulls, what’s their alternative? Sitting in the corner reading “Ola” magazine whilst some phallically challenged little gonzo dances around them like a faerie on crack? o_O

……I will see a bull fight

I tell you what, why not go one better?
We’ll have a whip-round and get you the costume and a wee pointy stick, I’ll personally stump up for the flight.
You get the idea…… ;) :D

I'm suggesting the Mattador has a choice to fight, a bit like a footballer has a choice to play football. I couldn't give a rats ass about the bull, sorry.

Don't be sorry.....my offer still stands.
