some years ago I collected goods from a laser cutting workshop, they had huge safety notices warning users to follow the correct procedure for checking the laser was operating.

some muppet had looked at it, couldn't see it was on so ran his finger under it to check

apparently there wasn't any blood,it cauterised his finger as it cut it off

It can cut through 1cm of sheet steel so his finger wasn't much of an obstacle

my son put his thumb into a slot drill on a milling m/c, split his nail in half
