Ouch - £100k of Nikon gear nicked.

Ouch indeed, not someone's best day!

Pains me to think that uneducated oik is strolling round with a D4 when I can't even afford a used D3!!!

It was in Dublin, so maybe a few pints of guinness, rather than a burger!

At least that makes me feel slightly better about dropping and smashing my 24-70mm today :)

That must make the driver feel awful.
However, on a good note, I have a couple of spare D800's that I am looking to sell...................

Why's that? Are you in on it? :naughty:

Hah it was a genuine accident. Not even 100% sure what happened as I had my back turned. I can only presume a sudden gust of wind caught the window blinds and pushed my open bag onto the floor from the table.

Just as I was packing the bag to take my gear out for a play today :bang:

Here's hoping he has the sense to fence the stuff otherwise he is going to need a HUGE gadget bag. :bang:

It looks like it's going to be a bit of a boring NPS roadshow for Nikon fans then. Hope there was nothing of any real interest on there lol. Man, that guy who got that is gonna have a field day on ebay.

Ouch ...

Wonder if the van was targeted and they new what was inside (Camera equipment) or a chance event

If they haven't found it in the first twenty four hours - it's not impossible, but less likely it'll be recovered in one job lot... I'm sure bits will be found in coming months, will be pretty tricky to narrow it back to the original tealeafs I would guess though.

I guess some bright spark is going to try and register it on the Nikon site, I assume they do that as Canon do if you want "pro" status?

I wonder if this is the same guy who had an ad on the Belfast/Ireland Gumtree last month. 2 canon 1D mk 4 in a backpack stolen from a parked car in Dublin. Seriously, I am reluctant leaving a car in Dublin never mind a backpack with that kit in it.

I'm sure plenty of this will be recovered- I wonder if they knew what they were getting their hands on when they took the van?

The use of the prefix "sample" in relation to the D800/D4's/WT-5's descriptions makes me wonder if they're non-functional display models only good for drooling on...
