I did this course last year. Found it quite good. There are practical assignments you undertake every week. You then upload these to a gallery where other students can comment on your work. Your final assignment (which is where you get your overall grade) is to select 10 of the best images that you have taken and write words on each one.

I achieved 87% and have to say i enjoyed it. There were quite a few published and self employed photographers on the course who enjoyed it too.

Good luck if you choose to do it :)

I'm thinking of that course too, but not untill the May 2011 start.
Post and let us know if you do it, and how it's going ! Thanks.....and good luck :)

Bri..

The DMC online courses are pretty good and you get your own personal tutor too! As far as I know the OU course doesn't offer that.

I did T189 in Oct last year.. have mixed views on it really.. the 'open studio' you post your weekly 10 images to is great in theory.. but if you get put in weeks where you get little or no feedback from others its not very helpful to you as there is no tutor feedback as gabe (carrie) mentions..

I did enjoy having the weekly assigments early on but after week 7 it became quite boring and all geared towards how to upload your images for the final assessment..

I got more out of the flickr group that was set up for that intake, we still all post and are active on there now.. met some nice people from doing it..

Thats my take on it.. others rave over it so dont let me put you off ;)
