Point to remember if you do a photograhic course via the OU or college, you are able to purchase software cheaper.

At Student Options, you can purchase and download Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 for £75, by using your OU or college email address.

You can purchase Adobe software cheaper from their own site by producing proof that you are a student.

Ah, but how much are the courses :) I'm off to the OU for a nose :D

I did the OU course last year. It was £140 and I got CS3 extended that normally retails for over £600...........for £180.

But do it for the course and what you learn, then you can apply it in your new photoshop

What was the course you did, I've just had a nose and can only see T189 which doesnt sound that in depth.

If my memory serves me right, the OU course costs £160. However, depending on your income etc you can get help with the course fees.

Ali B is right do the OU courses for what the course can teach you and how you can put that into practice and not for the chance to purchase cheap software.

I posted this information on the OU forums to be met with the reply that we do not use MS Office and then when my course started the tutor wanted us to use MS Word to send in reports etc.

Yep it was T189, it's not very in depth, lots of basics like fields of view, use of colour, working with layers etc. I was coming back to photography after a break so it was a useful refresher for me and I learned a lot in photoshop that I use now.
