How did you meet your other half?

Do you have criteria when looking for a partner eg make you laugh or treat you right etc

Any advice on how to keep a relationship going/mutually fun/evolving?

We met at a tea dance, for sandwiches cake and a dance...

We met via the internet many years ago. Not a dating site though, Another forum we used for modified cars. We got chatting, liked the sound of each other, so met up and then started seeing eachother.

She worked in the cafe in Bovington and we met a few weeks after I got posted here in April '04, although we never spoke outside of that cafe until we started speaking on Faceparty (and crappy version of Facebook). We went for a drink in March '06, got engeged that May, and got Married in Noverember '06. I had no criteria as such, it just felt right.

Met at work in July 1978, good friends for a year, started 'going out' together in late '79, married in 1981 :) I was 24, Suzanne 22 - boy that seems young now :)

met my wife at work. big knitwear factory. 30 odd blokes 850 women.
thought she looked cute. asked her out.
got on well, and a couple of years later, she was the missus.
i never went looking for a partner, as such.
met people and got on, or didnt. if it turned into something , fine. if it didnt, i had another friend.
only thing i can say to keep a relationship going is listen to your partner.
been married 23 years, so we must have got something right.
and dont take them for granted.
do something special once in a while.
oh , and stay silly.

I met my partner online, believe it or not. He's a photographer too, we got chatting on another forum and then he was in my area and we met up and now2 years later we're still pretty strong.

Met my wife in a hairdressers. I used to go in their a few times a year to keep my long hair in order. (1980's and a Heavy Metal fan) On this occassion I was having it cut short, don't know why, she was a junior and the hairdresser knowing she liked me got her to wash my hair etc. Didn't ask her out on that occassion, went back next day to ask her out, but unfortunately she wasn't there, she had to go to their other salon where they were short staffed. Went straight down there where she was working on the reception. Her face was a picture when she looked up in suprise and saw me there.
Asked her out, met for 1st date at a pub, she'd previously given me her number, but after ringing her after our 1st date I misdialled and got a wrong number, thought she'd blown me out. Tried again a day later and this time got the number right. We were engaged within 2 months and married within 2 years.

Wise words indeed :D

In Kiasdad's case and mine we've been married for 25 years and we're still silly:naughty:

We met in a pub when I had a friend down for the week-end and Kiasdad was on his way to a party elsewhere,6 weeks later we met again in the same pub and he stole the lemon from my drink and then left his hand on my knee...7 weeks later we were engaged(would have been 6 but he chickened out) and we were married 14 months later.

he turned up at my front door on his motorbike lol

he was friends with a lad i knew and came round to my house to speak to me, got engaged after 4 months and we still together 4 years later . and hopefully getting married and emegrating in a few years

It's always been attached to my body. Since birth, actually.

Online...used to be sad to admit that sort of thing, but nowadays it's becoming the norm...

Agree with the above. I met my wife in a pub in Plymouth (although I have to admit I don't have full recall of that first meeting:lol:).

Married her within a year! Everyone said we were too young (I was 19 and she was 17) and it wouldn't last etc etc..............

We celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary in April, have two grown up children and two marvellous grandchildren.

(And it's all down to those two little words........................"Yes dear")

Dating agency:eek:

Met up in a pub first time in June '02, just clicked and talked for hours and hours.
Met three more times that week and then she said she was going on holiday, i thought I was being blown out:D
Spoke everyday whilst she was on hols, by November she had moved in and we got married the following September.
My life is now complete, she is a wonderful lady and keeps me sane. Gotta agree with keeping silly though:thumbs::bonk:

I am so predictable, I met mine when he joined my local rugby club :D:D:D We met, then we got a house (to rent at first) and he proposed all within 3 months :D We've been married 6 years this year (been together 8)

Met in a nightclub. She was a barmaid and I was a doorman. We were just friends for a while until one night when we both got extremely drunk and went back to her place. Been together ever since. After 21 years or so, we got married nearly 2 years ago.

Secrets to a long and happy relationship? Don't get into debt. Don't have kids. Works for us!

I said to my friends girlfriend...."You got any nice mates?"

She said yes, we went to say hello to said friend.

That was 14 years ago :)

Well, quite a funny story really. I'm a biker and I'm on a bike forum and there's this lady on there called 'hellkat'

I asked about canvases and she posted a picture of her daughter and her friend that she got put onto a canvas. I told 'hellkat' that I would do her daughter (in jest obviously).

'hellkat' showed her daughter, and then her daughter 'poked' me on Facebook. We got talking, met up and then I done it for real...

...and we lived happily ever after (well, 11 months lol). :)

At a mate's house.
Looking back on it it was all downhill from there on.
Within a few weeks I had the only car accident I have ever had - driving her home.
One mistake led to another and we got hitched. It was in a Registry Office and when we came out I had a parking ticket.
Driving home from honeymoon a vehicle in front threw up a stone that smashed the windscreen.
M in Law was a monster. She accused me of caring more about my dog than her daughter. I told her that I cared more about my neighbour's cat than her daughter (she knew I was not keen on cats).
Now been happily divorced for many years and life sure is sweet.

I was looking for anyone that would put up with me and pounced on the lucky lady in my life as she was leaving the NAAFI BOP.

I met KAthy at a night club, its sounds cheesy however we caught each other glance, i walked over and stood behind her watching her rear and started dancing with her.
at the end of the night not much was said but she gave me her number.
Didnt call her for 4 days arrange another date, engaged 6 months after married 2 years after that and its now coming close to our 2nd year anniversary.

Sadly the club burnt down and cant relive those memories. We moan and argue but we make up and she likes to make me happy and i hope i make her happy..

Met my Mrs at school when we were 14, married at 22 and we are both 43 and i'm still potty over her! She hates my guts but hey ho! :D only joking we get on great, best buddies!

Depressing thread, Im trying to forget, not remember. Nearly thirty years on and I still blame the drink.

I was dragged along by a mate to see this bird he fancied. He ended up with her sister and me the one he wanted. I def got the best end of that deal.
