Where else do you go (aside from F&C) for film talk? I go on APUG, although rarely post, and occasionally go on Rangefinderforum - even though I don't really have a rangefinder.

Any blogs with good, solid articles would also be fantastic. I check out Film Photography Project occasionally, although their obsession with Polaroid seems to cloud anything else (I like Polaroids, but they aren't the be all and end all).

Mainly on film and darkroom user and apug but don't really post. Also then all the film related groups on Flickr.

I use APUG for some queries because it comes up first in the google search, mainly just here though :)

mflenses to support film users, apug and Canon FD forum (erm very quiet these days)

I use the Large format forum quite a bit, thats the US one not the UK one that never has much on it at all. Its good read for all film stuff not just LF.

I like rangefinderforum, its a bit of a 'quirky' community but there are some good people and good photographers over there who are not afraid to do something a little different (unlike most of the non-film TP members- as was seen with Naboo32's interesting Venice shot!). I also read APUG and FADU but don't post. Mind you I mainly stay in here on TP now, the rest of the site does seem to have changed in its tone recently.

APUG, but I really can't get on with the whole anti-scanning thing there. Having to ask some questions on APUG and others on DPUG (or having to split a question in two) gets frustrating.

Other than that, a selection of groups on Flickr. For camera/manufacturer specific questions there are some excellent Flickr groups.

APUG - I think they can be a little too serious sometimes, and many seem to hold the view that it is either digital or film full stop, that people cannot enjoy using both formats in tandem (like many of us here do). There is some good information, and Photo Engineer in particular often posts very interesting anecdotes, but definitely one for browsing.

FADU is a little bit slow, again some good information and knowledge. Haven't actually looked around DPUG, may do. Will have a look at the others as well, thanks.

The only main flickr group I'm on is I Shoot Film, which often has a lot of activity. Any others on flickr?

The Mamiya RB67 group is useful (if you own one), the Medium Format group is a little too fussy (using Polaroid/instant annoys them) but has some useful information, and then you get occasional bursts of activity on more obscure groups like Ensign Photography and Folding medium format cameras that can be useful if you're into that sort of thing.

My favourite group has to be Never Professional, and I hesitate to even mention it as it's already growing a little large. It's the sort of non-judgemental and supportive group that can make photography fun, even with people you've never met on the other side of the world.

The least useful group.. well, the Talk Photography group is well into the relegation zone on my group list due to non-activity and probably won't survive my next cull.

Thanks Alastair. I'm on some of the camera specific groups, the digital ones are pretty dull and seem to be constantly about spending £££ more than anything else! Medium Format is okay, although it seems to be one of many groups that just seem to be used for people to sell things through. There is nothing as active as I Shoot Film though, nothing I have stumbled on anyway/

Depending what you're looking for, I've been pondering starting a critique-focussed group in the new year (both for the giving and receiving of good critique). Something small, with enough posting restrictions to keep away the photo-dumpers, no banners or invite codes. Just not quite sure on the details how it would work. This probably isn't the place to discuss it though, PM if interested.

:shake: drop me a PM when you've 5 minutes Jim, give me some pointers, I've spotted a few things myself, but extra feedback's always welcome, especially from respected members...

Sorry for derailing the thread a bit. As you were everyone

Will do Mark. :)

Usual suspects: I check out what's going on on Rangefinder forum and here most days (but rarely go outside F&C on TP) and was beginning to get worried when Rangefinderforum had their server issues the other day. I rarely post, as I usually browse from my mobile and posting is a bit hit and miss.
APUG's well worth a visit every now and again too.
One that hasn't been mentioned - maybe because it's more to do with the cameras than the film, and maybe because you only go there when you've got a problem is kyphoto. It's well worth having it bookmarked for it's classic camera repair area!

Over on the flickr, the I shoot film is the busiest group I'm a member of too. But that's just too big and far too many pictures get posted there! The Film Photography Podcast group is also quite busy though and doesn't have nearly as much of a Polaroid bias as the main site or podcast.
