Orlando

Was in orlando last year. Went to the coast a couple of times, clearwater and sarasota. A few waders, pelicans and ospreys about. North everglades supposed to decent but did nt get there due to heavy storms.

if you go to the Gator Park, there's a brilliant 'wildlife walk' as part of it - you walk on a raised walkway through a fairly swampy area and can get some brilliant wildlife shots.

Alternatively, I would strongly recommend going on an airboat ride with Cap'n Gator Bruce! Sounds daft as they're so noisy, but you will see Giant Kingfishers, Bald Eagles, loads of heron type birds, and many more that I haven't a clue about. You also get the added bonus of seeing some gators, having a fantastic experience on the airboat, and as it's a small (i.e. max 4 on the airboat - nothing like the huge commercial ones seating about 12-15 people) he takes you into proper swampy areas that you wouldn't necessarily see.

We've gone back to him several years running, (as well as trying the larger ones) and now won't go anywhere else.

He's located on the St Johns River, somewhere near Christmas :) his phone no is 407 568 7601 or website www.airboatride.com

about 50 mins drive from Disney resort area, and don't be put off by his telephone manner - the ride and experience is well worth it!!!
