Organising negatives?

Hi all

Finding myself taking lots of film recently, and I have a box full of 120 and 35mm negatives, trouble is, when I come to scan older images (that were originally (badly) processed straight to CD, before I had a scanner) It takes me ages to find them. :razz:

What can I use to organise them with? I've seen a couple of negatives wallets/albums on ebay but they seem quite limited in terms of format and choice and price. I need 120 and 35mm holders :thinking:

From Silverprint or most other film suppliers you can get the Kenro sheets in either 35mm or 120mm.

I tend to use a fair few of these, I also tend to write on the sheet itself info about the negs, date, film, camera, what was taken etc. All then stored in those big ring binder type things. All in one place all easy to find.

Works for me.

you have exactly the same problem I do then! Needs a nice wide ring binder but I can't find the right one. Give me a shout it you ever do!
 
7DS had a kenro branded binder a few months back, I picked one up, its great!

Let me see if its still there.
 
I use a "Display Book" 4 ring binder (they're the ones with the plastic sleeve on the front and spine for your own branding - for manuals etc.) made by Bantex.

the 4 ring, A4, 40mm capacity one is as close as I've come to getting a normal stationery shop binder that will take the kenro sheets. Not quite perfect - maybe 2mm of the plastic film hangs out the side, but close enough for me.

Thanks. Not sure I need 10 but perhaps if someone local wants to go halves it could work out nicely!

I use the Kenro sleeves (free from the college photo techs :D) and then just use a regular binder from WHSmiths. I then organise them into separate events using the cheapo WHSmiths coloured dividers.
 
Process supplies in London do the Kenro Ring Binders for £5.40 + vat if yr ever visiting. Were under a fiver incl. last time i bought one earlier this year!

Thankyou all :) So what about 120 film? I can only find 35mm negative sleeves :(

I have 6000+ medium format transparencies, all stored in Kenro sheets, on hangers in a filing cabinet.

I have used a simple database (Microsoft Works) and all are detailed there. Each sheet is numbered, then the slides are designated within the sheet, e.g. slide 6 in sheet 24 is numbered in the database as 24.06, slide 12 as 24.12.

The database is broken down into a number of fields which describe the subject in detail. I can search by subject name, or subject type, or date, or location, to name just a few.

Makes life much easier.
