2683 photos as of now - keywording all of them is going to be... fun
Shouldn't take that long, as you don't have to do them individually.
Now 80k, or 180k, now that could take awhile.

FWIW, this exactly the same scheme that I used with a paper file index that I'd been keeping of my film shots since I was about 15 ( which is 30 years ago now!)Film scans are kept in a separate directory Scan/YYYY/MM/Fxx where the date is the month that the film roll was developed. I figure it's pretty safe that I'll never shoot more than 99 rolls in one month. Each frame file is named YYYYMMDD_Fxx_xx where the last two digits are the frame number from the film or slide number when they returned from developing.
Well, LR used to be much quicker. But if the size of the catalogue has little effect on speed...
2.66Ghz i5 iMac upgraded to 16GB RAM last year. Should be fine I would've thought.
