Yes
I'd purchased a Nikon P7000 from these guys on Saturday and payed immediately through Pay-Pal. The funds are saying that I'd paid on the Pay-Pal site, but the money is still showing in my account. For those who've purchased from these guys, can any of you comment on their processes. I've read their site, but there is no FedEx/DHL reference to even track the item. Anyone any ideas?

Paypal payments are not instant and even the Chinese take a weekend off m8, give it a couple of days.

I've bought several lens from Onestop digital in the past and have found them to be very fast (4 days delivery from HK) and on the one occasion that I incurred import duty I emailed them a scan of the invoice and they reimbursed me via paypal within a matter of hours. I would have stayed away from buying a camera from them though simply because I believe that the warranty on the cameras is not global unlike with lenses (may be completely wrong though) and feel that if anything went wrong with it sending it back to HK would major headache.

I guess I have an apology to make. It appears that the delivery instructions and tracking number has turned up in my junk folder. Currently being processed in H-K.

I've no major issue purchasing from H-K, especially when the saving is over £100. My 70-200 VR1 is from H-K too and not had a problem with that and One Stop have always seemed to have been well rated.

My recent experience differs from their generally positive feedback. I bought a Canon BG E6 battery grip from them last week. Paid thru Paypal. A week later after my cash was earning interest in their account my order was still processing. So I contacted them and although I got an immediate response and an immediate refund I was informed that they were out of stock and had no idea when this item would be back in. No doubts the effects of the earthquake. But still a sharp practice not to update their stock availability and to take your cash without notifying you of the true events. Bad show and maybe a taster of what's to come.

Not to drag an old thread up (something that you have seemd to have done -twice) ... I've not had a bad experience from OSD - have used them for the last 3yrs with no probs...

 I can't quite see how they would earn any interest in a paypal account thou....

You seem to be taking this very personally since you have pursued this over two threads too and I can't see how you can defend this type of sharp practice. Maybe as a newbie I have broken forum etiquette and not started a new thread? I will contact a Administrator for clarification.
My intent wasn't to offend but to give an account of my very recent experience with Onestop Digital. I think it's in all members interests to get the latest on any companies trading practices. In this case the company's web site says it's selling something that it isn't and has no idea when it will be back in.

Regardless of what account we're talking about the money's certainly not in mine.

Sorry not getting this. Last word and then I'm ought'a here. Reported a firm taking your money for items they not only don't have but have no idea when they will get it back in. And oh yes you have to contact them to get your money back. Not one of their competitors guys and I have bought from them before with no probs but tried to buy from them last week not last year and this is what happened. Earthquake to blame no doubt but they should make clearer their stock availability or that you are now pre-ordering.

I suppose best advice all round is check availability by email and not leave to chance the accuracy of their web site.

Cheers

feedback is welcome im sure but reposting the same thing several times is a bit OTT?

Just for a bit of balance .....

Bought my 300 f/2.8 IS from them about six months ago. Can't fault the speed or service .... And I'm a hard guy to please .. :D

From their Ts and Cs -

Please note that we do NOT offer replacements if you find your lenses to have back-focussing, front-focussing or soft-focussing problems.

Manufacturers carry out their own quality controls, which have their own tolerance ranges. When we receive lenses from our suppliers or manufacturers, the lenses had already gone through their quality controls and passed, as the focusing should have been within their tolerance ranges. Although the lens might not be perfect, it would be considered ‘acceptable’ according to the manufacturer's own definition.

Hmmm. No thanks.

i've purchased from them on 3 occasions, however, not recently.
admittedly I had a 50-150mm sigma which suffered from soft focusing at times.
recalibration was on my dollar but not expensive and it was much later that I realised this and got around to it.
having said that, do shops take back equipment that you've opened and that the manufacturer is happy with? big loss to the shop. normally they just deal with it for you I'd have thought.

if i'd have purchased the lens from the UK the recalibration by sigma would have been free of charge iirc

Unlike a credit/debit card transaction where a merchant can get authorisation but only actually bill the card when the order is confirmed, paypal payments are immediate. Is this the fault of the merchant? No!

The fact that they ran out of stock, well that happens occasionally and if you have been watching the news of recent you may understand why new stocks may not be readily available.

When you queried it, you got an immediate refund, so stop complaining.

Just bought a Sekonic lightmeter from them...ultra fast delivery on 3rd day...never had a prob...my 3rd purchase...

But every now and then a problem occurs with everything in life...so use the law of averages when deciding...

Bought twice and can recommend them wholeheartedly. The main difference now is that you can buy a Mack warranty as opposed to their standard RTB as was in the past when I bought my lenses (I still have the Tamron 90mm f/2.8), so anyone would be a bit of a mug not to buy it as it's worldwide cover.

Also, bear in mind that some national importers, namely Sigma (UK) and possibly others, may not honour their own international warranty if the item wasn't imported though the respective national importer and sold through an approved retailer and tax paid locally. Whereas in the past it was either RTB to HK or pay Sigma (UK) out of your own pocket, now this isn't the case as the Mack warranty takes care of that, and for the minimal cost, is a no-brainer.
