I can't be arsed to look at all the other posts you made to other forums with the same question, but I am however wondering if a) you were as snappy after an hour there as you were here, and b) if your subject of choice received the same kinds of responses.

Why join forums to ask questions to which you appear to know the answer?

I read hundreds of posts a week? And new members here are welcomed constantly and consistently. It's very rare for threads to turn to crap so quickly, it's quite clear to almost everyone why this one has.

Now, do you have some photography related issues you'd like to discuss?

Garry, you've clearly got off on the wrong foot with your first couple of posts and things have gone downhill from there. Although, to be fair the majority of the replies were aimed at the subject matter (and that's hardly surprising on a serious photography forum) not at you personally until you came back all defensive. Did I really just call us serious? :nuts:

You believe them to be particles of dust, moisture etc, as does everyone else on here, so what was it you wanted to know?
Did you want an explanation from a photographer's perspective as to why this happens or was it simply a poll of opinions (if the latter I think you have your answer already and probably don't need any more input into it).
If you want to start over with a clearer question for everyone, I think we can all draw a line under this thread up to this point and try again.

BTW I've edited your signature as pointing off site to another discussion forum isn't something that we do here - and it does tend to bring out the cynic in me, and everyone else.

As I stated I am no expert but thought they were dust so I came here to ask some experts.

I did try to discuss a photography related subject but your members could not refrain from constantly taking the ****.

Now its my turn to take the **** it gets peoples back up, funny that.
 
I for one am happy to be ruled by our Green Ink Overlords.
 
So on the photography related subject - are you now satisfied that they are dust as you originally believed or would you like some more discusion of that or evidence to support you in the discussion I assume you are having on your forum ?

It is quite clear in my OP that I thought they were dust but I wanted to hear from people who actually knew for a fact what they were and why they are there.
Drawing a line is fine by me, thank you for your time.

Yes I am very satisfied they are dust, you guys know far more about this subject than I ever will, I did hope that there would be some scientific quote I could use but your opinions are good enough for me.

I'm sure someone could come up with a scientific quoate about refraction, reflection and scattering - though personally i'm lacking the arsed to go look it up

incidentally as the shot appears to be taken in a crop circle i would hazard a guess that the majority of the 'dust' is actually wheat/barley pollen thrown into the air when the crop circle was trodden down (using a board with rope handles etc)

Actually yes, I'm confusing threads! :lol:

I'll try again. Light balls fire out from that flashy thing, hit other balls of stuff floating in the air which makes some of the light balls bounce back into that magic box that records vision. This confuses the light ball pixies who make blobs appear on the photos.

Bingo, science stuff right there! :D

Alright, I'll admit, I'm sat in a pub opposite a fellow forum geek and we've had a beer or two so that's about as scientific as I can be right now! :lol:

The links I posted up-thread offer good popular explanations.
 
One way to test might be two cameras set up, one with on camera flash, the other at right angles several meters away, (in total darkness) open both shutters and fire the flash, if the orbs show up on both camera equally then it suggests theres something there, if the on camera flash shows it much more it suggests it's the flash reflecting on something close to the camera.
