Hi all, my name is Garry and I run a small and friendly UFO/paranormal forum in the UK, we have a thread on Orbs in photo's, some say they are some form of paranormal entity but I and others say they are dust/insects etc, I am no expert so I thought I would ask you guys, I hope this is the correct place to put this question, looking forward to your views. Regards Garry.:)

Up to 50 on line in the past hour and no answer, thanks for your time ladies and gents.

Post a picture ... but i can tell you now that the most likely explanation for round coloured blobs in pictures is lens flare , usually caused by shooting towards a light source and exacerbated by using a UV filter or having a dirty front element.

If it is 'ghostly' translucent blobs its almost certainly dirt on the sensor

(and you need to post the photo here - otherwise its going to look like you just asked this to increase traffic to your forum, which i'm sure was not the case ;) )

Triffid spores?

It's just the flash hitting particles of stuff in the air, try taking photos at night in rain or snow with the flash on and you'll see a similar effect.

Nothing untoward going on there. :)

up to 50 online in the last hour of people with common sense?

Firing a flash through a field and wondering if the chances of literrally hundreds of paranormal entities being caught or just out of focus dust / water / spore particles?

Not sure myself. How about starting a thread on your forum asking why people never seem to be able to take an in focus image / video of the ufo's they see but can manage with everything else?

Do I detect a non believer in the ranks?.............

That is exactly how my forum works, and that is the question I always ask.

Its because the UFOs have a special cloaking device which earthly technology can't focus on - don't you know anything  ;)

Quite simply, they are NOT any sort of "paranormal entity".

Being kind for a moment...

There is not a scintilla of credible evidence in the whole of history to give serious credence to any 'alien phenomena', 'psychic power', 'ghost', 'miracle' or other similar event. Not one. Ever.

Sorry.

Do please post any *evidenced* examples that contradict these findings. 'Evidence' in this context means properly conducted, replicable tests with a full description of the methodology and analysis.

Please note:

1/A YouTube post is most unlikely to reach the required standard.
2/ Anecdote is not synonymous with evidence.

Jeez, take a pill. :p

Ah, an easy one. Just call 'Zaphod's Used Biro 'n Single Sock Emporium' (Betelgeuse 200-0-2130) and ask them to send you a catalogue. I guarantee you will see ever sock you ever lost listed.

Now I must go and photograph unicorns.

Jeez, take a pill. :p

but would that be the red pill or the blue pill ?

(incidentally the socks were going missing before i got kim - it's the sky pixies that take them ;) )

Red or blue. Decisions decisions.

take em both ... what harm can it do

To be honest you didn't do yourself any favours by posting again an hour after you originally posted complaining no-one had replied. That never comes across well, especially if it's your first ever post on a forum. It comes across as being short-tempered and that often sets the tone for the entire thread.

In many ways this is one of the most friendly forums you'll find anywhere but like any other you just have to get used to it's humour and how it works. Just relax, sit back and don't take it too seriously. :)

Dude, you're not used to people having a wee pop at your genre of choice? Seriously?
Methinks a slightly thicker skin may be required.

To be fair, most of the replies did simply suggest flash on dust / pollen, And Jon Ryan was I think pointing those links at me, not you

If you were to stick around you'd know how great this place is. Some pretty fantastic people here.

Fuji understand the scientific basis for Orbs.

They even know how to eliminate them

They changed the sensor on thousands of X10's so they could no longer be seen.

It is thought aliens financed the whole operation.

Do you mean Jon Ryan? I haven't posted any links here!

Oops, corrected :)
Apologies. I have the attention span of a gnat today.

actually you said some people thought they were paranormal , while others thought they were dust.

they're dust - simples

The supposed link between "paranormal activity" and emf is something which always gives me a wry smile, as though the connection between the two is some sort of established fact.

There was a group around here that used to go to old ruins and derelict houses at night (because ghosts only come out at night, you see) with a camcorder in night mode and emf meters trying to find evidence of paranormal activity....surely thats like looking for the higgs boson with an alba FM radio?
