OptimusBri's self portrait 365

Some great shots in here Briony. Brave effort in trying to do this for a whole year!

Keep it up!

Ian.

day 28, as ever i like it. your sp ideas are very good and i look forward to the next day with interest...

Handy window for day 28 and another excellent shot which actually looks even better with more black space around it. Do you have a wireless release or are you having to run and get in position on the self timer? :)

Thank you :)

Darren - I'm using my self timer. I hate it! Half the time I don't get in the right position in time, or if I do, I have to get out of it to run and press the shutter button again!

I did actually order a remote but it wasn't working so I sent it back yesterday and am getting it replaced :) so hopefully I should have it soon!

Yes it's another black and white.
Yes it's rubbish.

Sorry but I had to sort my priorities out today and put my University work first, which meant doing work for my project all day. It kind of looks like I'm praying but I'm not. I was just stressed.

Tomorrow's will be better, I promise :)

Still looks fab. Hope tomorrow is a better day. =)

p.s. You've turned to the darkside... The monochrome side. Hehehe.

WOW, you have some great photos there. Self portraits are hard I think as you have to seem natural but your also bearing yourself, tough call.

REALLY liked blind great shot ;)

No, the dark side is good... My colourblind friend would agree too. Lol. He'd also add 'join the dark side, we have cookies and milk!'. :D

hope you're feeling less stressed now. =)

i like this, we can all be over-critical of our own work when we want it to be more than we think it is. the good thing about this project is we have to come up with something every day regardless and we can probably learn more from the ones we are not happy with...

I had a nice trip to Abbey Park today. It's a huge park about half an hours walk away from where I live. I hadn't a clue where it was so I spent a while on google maps trying to figure out a route, hoping that I wouldn't get lost. Well, I didn't get lost on the way there but I got pretty lost in the park - it's huge! I had a wander round and took loads of photos, then I wanted to find the Abbey ruins but I just kept going round in circles. I had a map but I kept coming to signposts with the same signs on, which made me slightly scared and think it might just be some endless park which kept leading you round and round the same place...but then I found it :-D

It was the most gorgeous morning - there was a clear blue sky and the sun was shining and I could feel it making my back warm when I was walking. It actually felt like summer for a short while. It was awesome :-)

Anyway, I have decided I love Abbey Park as it's huge and there are so many places to take photos. So I am going to go there once a week for one of my 365 shots :-)

Nice to see things looking up after your hectic day yesterday and some colour and sunshine as well :) Looks like difficult light as your skin and top are a little blown but if you'd exposed less (the photograph that is!) you'd lose the background detail. Be nice to have some exif data as I'm trying to work out if you used any flash or not. A slightly awkward pose as well, but then running to beat the self timer isn't easy.

It's a nice addition to your 365 though and the fresh air will clear your head ready for more work next week

nice shot, dare i say it would look good in b&w, lots of contrast...;)

Congratulations on making it this far. Only 334 days to go :D

Another good offering today. I almost got down to peer with you. Made me chuckle a little inside anyway

another great image Briony. You have chopped the top of your head off...mmm I am undecided on that, would it complete the image to see the top of your head or does it suit the composition of you "peering" out towards the reader? I don't know:thinking: what do you think? iain

Thank you Darren and Iain :)

To be honest, I wasn't really looking for whether the top of my head was in the shot or not. I always try to get a half decent photo first then worry about whether I have half a finger or a bit of my head etc. chopped off! But I do quite like it how it is :)

Thats the most important thing then Briony it's your 365 and its fantastic :D
Iain

Absolutely stunning... And the picture is very good too. :p

Congratulations on your first awesome month. And here's to another 11 months.

Haha thank you :D
Congratulations to you too - lets hope we both last the whole year! Saying that, this first month has gone stupidly quickly so it might not be as bad as I am imagining. Although I might get sick of seeing so many photos of myself after a while!

good finish to an excellent first month. looking forward to february...

Lol. Thank you, it has gone very quickly indeed. I see what you're saying... Last year went very quickly and apparently they get quicker so this year should go even quicker. Lol. It'll be fine, you're a fantastic photographer and very pretty, perfect combination for a totally awesome 365 of self-portraits! like I said ... Here's to another 11 months. =)

Another lovely image for today. You've done well to expose for highlights and shadows to keep the detail. The small version doesn't do it justice.

One niggle... clean the finger marks off the window next time ;)

Thank you, but I cheated a little - it's made up of two images :p
And yes, I forgot about the marks on the window but in a way I kind of like them as they catch the light :)

nicely put together shot. great start to february...

oh, btw, ditto the finger marks ;)

Top marks for combining the two then. Works a treat.

Is this one shot? :suspect:

Nope it's two :)

Well, technically I used one shot...
I opened it in Photoshop, and lowered the exposure so I got the nice sunset. Then I opened it again and changed the exposure until I was happy with the lighting on me, then put that photo on top of the first one, and used a layer mask to have me exposed correctly with the sunset.

Does that make sense? (I spent ages trying to word that right haha )

yep it kinda notices in the slight glow around the haor but thats a masking thing, lush shot though a bit of PS retouching with the mask is all it needs.

Next time think a wee bit more about the comp as you have spire sticking out of your head :D:D:D:D:D:
