OptimusBri's self portrait 365

Good to see you back today Briony, thought you'd had second thoughts when yesterday's didn't appear :)

Not always easy to step back and be objective about your own images, but I think number 20 is a cracking shot. You've got some great lines in there and it's well processed and lit. Have you cut out the background on it? Looks like a few jaggies but might be my eyes or the compression.

21 is nice. Very thoughtful. Thinking of home or school or just what to shoot next.

Keep it up

Loving them both very much. Great lighting in both of them! Of course me being me I love the mono shot! Probably takes the win for me! =)

If you're lacking inspiration then do some research into portrait photography as a whole... try Brian Duffy as a starter. <- He's a personal favourite of mine! =)

just catching up.. love the last 3 briony.. hope we see you smiling more often too :)

No don't worry, I haven't given up just yet! I took the photo but didn't have time to edit it so I just put it up the next day. Yes I have cut out the background, oh gosh it was frustrating! It just wasn't going well so I gave up in the end, I guess it hasn't turned out too bad.

And thank you, glad you like the images even if I don't :)

Large + on black

It was raining today.

If you look at the photo on my Flickr account, there's more photos in the comments. :)

Stunning Bri - has a real sensual feel to it. Out of the set this is definitely my fave so good choice!

Only minor crit is that the cropped finger is bugging me!

Keep it up lovely lady!

Wow that's beautiful  You're coming up with some fabulous ideas.

Blimey briony... You're coming up with some absolute belters! Really like yesterdays, full of emotion and interest. =)

22 is superb, a really well thought out picture. i agree about the crop but hey, its brilliant anyway...

Very brave and challenging to do self portraits. You have had plenty of ideas so far to make all your shots different, haven't found a weak one yet. It does help that you look very natural in front of the camera.

:clap::clap:

Hello!
I've not visited this thread in a few days, but I'm glad I have now - still loving the SP's - you're doing very well coming up with a different shot each day, and each one is an absolute peach. Really good work

I thought you were praying at first, but you've really got the fed up look across well in it. Hope the new place inspires you to greater things.

23 is another really good image...as ever i would love it b&w, thats just me though! you come up with such imaginative sp's...well done!

Stumbled upon this thread by accident, and glad I did. Some wonderfully imaginative images.

Best of luck with the rest of the year, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread :)

fabulous as ever briony.. love #22, very sensual.. like the lighting on your last one!

Please view this large here. I don't like it as much when it's small.

It feels like I'm leaving when I've only just arrived.

No, it's not your monitors - this is meant to be dark.
It's a bit different to all my other photos so far...
Didn't go totally according to plan, but I guess I'll retake this shot another time :)

I've been watching and enjoying this thread since you started, it always makes me want to try a self portrait which has got to be a good thing :)

I really like your latest shot, as soon as I saw it it reminded me of "She's Leaving Home" by The Beatles, a song I've always loved

Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
Silently closing their bedroom door
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
She goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief
Quietly turning the backdoor key
Stepping outside she is free.

She (We gave her most of our lives)
is leaving (Sacrificed most of our lives)
home (We gave her everything money could buy)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye

Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown
Picks up the letter that's lying there
Standing alone at the top of the stairs
She breaks down and cries to her husband Daddy our baby's gone
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly
How could she do this to me.

She (We never thought of ourselves)
is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves)
home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by)
She's leaving home after living alone
For so many years. Bye, bye

Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
Waiting to keep the appointment she made
Meeting a man from the motor trade.

She (What did we do that was wrong)
is having (We didn't know it was wrong)
fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy)
Something inside that was always denied
For so many years. Bye, bye
She's leaving home. Bye, bye

really good shot. love the lighting. its nice to see such a big variation from your previous sp's...variety is the spice of life, as they say!

wow...another slightly disturbing one, like the wardrobe picture, love it!

Liking 25. A change from the rest of your images so far. Whilst it would normally bother me having that much dead space, this one helps to isolate you. And if you don't know if you're coming or going you have a problem... there's a crude joke to be had in there :D

26 is pretty scary. Looking like something from the x-files where the oil alien things took over their bodies. Eyes directly at the camera would help here. Trust it is just PP and you haven't been possessed in any way?

Very interesting concept, and very well pulled off! It sure scared the hell out of me. Lol.

=)

eek.. #26 is very scary

great lighting on #25 and #27, also like the B+W conversion on this one!

Great use of light in today's shot. The commentary from flickr explains a lot.

had a look at the others on flickr...nice work, not sure which i would have gone for. good to see some b&w from you...

Lovely shots! Some very scary yet great! I could see some of those as movie campaignes! Fantastic! You have a lot of talent! :D
