Optical hotshoe triggers

Anyone used or even heard of these flash triggers?

I have a Miranda 700CD that I can't sell but at the same time I need a rim light. Could I mount the 700CD on this little hotshoe thing and have it triggered?

Edit: note for anyone wanting to do that with a Canon gun, they have a triggering quirk and need a special version of that slave, also from ColinsFoto.

There are several makes around and they are very useful when using multiple flashes. I have three I keep in my bag.

There are lots of them about. They should all work, apart from that Canon caveat.

How about a unit designed for Canon speedlights used with Miranda 700CD? surely just buy the Canon version to work with all of them?

Yes, ones designed for Canon will work with other brands.

The problem with Canon guns is they leave a residual voltage in the foot after firing, so with a regular optical slave they will fire once, but the slave won't reset and won't trigger again until you turn the gun off and on again. Then it will fire once more etc.

Ordered Tenner to get a usable flash into modern era is pretty good value IMO.
