Opteka Lenses?

As a newbie i have been looking into what i can get for my 400d as a beginner.

im looking at getting a lens hood from reading up the advantages that a little bit of plastic can do for your pictures and

on amazon i have seen a few lenses such as trhe fish eye lens which is only about 40 quid by Opteka.

Are these lenses any good or should i stay witht he likes of tamron but my budget isnt enormous for extra bits of kits
 
They aren't very good. But then, if your only looking to play around- try it, if you don't mind spending £40.

I've just been having a look at them on Amazon.

I think this review probably sums them up quite well

For quality? It's not great - the edges are blurry and even with editing, I'm not satisfied with the result of the photos.
For a taste of fisheye at this price? Awesome! If you are a amateur and wanted to try different views. It's great!

I have actually decided to buy a real full lens after this trial! :)

Bearing in mind that a "proper" fish eye lens would set you back around £500-600, and as long as you realise that at that price, you get what you pay for it looks like it could be worth a punt :)
 
Remember that with amazon you have some time to send it back to get your money back- in case you decided it wasn't worth it.
 
Quality of these type of lenses are generally poor but if you want to use it just for fun and the photo quality doesn't have to be great then I think it's worth the £40. My friend bought one of those fisheye adapters, he loves it as it's fun to use without spending hundreds on a fisheye but I found the photos a bit too blurry for me.
 
if it's coming from USA you might get a surcharge due to VAT when its delivered.

I bought one off amazon for £40 and it's alright for a laugh or to experiment.

It's a case of get what you pay for. Just bear in mind that it's not a f/2.8 lens and that it's just a adapter

Si, for another 30 squid on top you can get a 50mm f1.8 :) - Hours of fun !!!
and you will get MUCH more use from it !!
google it for images !!

Yes.

If you want a good quality cheap lens do what wrx_dazza suggests and get a 50mm F1.8
 
These lenses are in stock at London Camera Exchange. I saw an image from a fisheye in their shop in Chester during the summer, and have to say it wasn't that bad..It is a gimmick thing anyway
 
cheap but not very good - go with Tamron/Sigma if on a budget or just save up for a Canon lens(for the long term).
