I am looking to upgrade my camera after a few months away from photography. This may well have been asked before on here, and i know the camera hasnt been released yet, but...................1ds MK2 or the 5D MK2? which one would you go for????

Sorry, I can't really answer your question as I guess it really depends what subject/s you plan to use the camera for sports, landscape, wildlife etc. Personally I'd love a ff 1D but can't afford it so it's looking like the 5D for me

If that was me in that situation, id get the 5DMkII
Reviews are good, there are some different features that are all too useful and ..... its the latest, which is a crap reason i know, but theres nothing like having a shiny new camera, and of course will hold its value better as its not been replaced, yet.

Totally depends on what you need what your shooting and who for.


What stuff are you shooting?
Are you shooting commercially?
whats your budget? i.e. with you have money left for lens if you get the 1ds?

I will be using the camera, mainly for portraits, fashion, some glamour and still life work. Landscapes just aren't my thing, although i am sure i will have a go at some point! None of the work will be commercial as yet, but here is hoping, i am working towards making money from the portrait side of things and will be making magazine submission for the fashion/glamour work.

Budget wise i am looking at around 3K. I am pretty well covered on the lens front. I have a 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, 50 1.8 and various other bits of glass. Although i am sure a 100mm Macro would do any harm to add to the arsenal!!

Hi James, did you not sell your canon 1ds mk11 a few months ago?

I'd personally go for the 5Dmk11. Which is what I personally will doing myself.

Hi, yes i did. I wasnt using it enough at the time, wish i had kept it now, but nevermind, i think i will go for the 5d MK11 aswell.Waiting with baited breath
