Canon 7D or Nikon D700 do we believe they are in the same class?

I have a Canon 7D and i've been offered a swap for the D700.

IMO no not in the same class, the biggest difference being the D700 is a full frame camera, the Nikon D7000 would have been a better comparison with the 7D

d7000 is a quality camera

But so is the 7d.
What don't you like about the 7D that you think the d7000 will do better?

Being a 7d owner I'm bias, the 7d is a blinding camera, i have never played with the nikon nor have i even picked one up, best advise is to play with it first. See what you think. 7d is fast, autofocus is amazing, as is the whole camera, I've even dropped mine in water and it still works (big mistake and i nearly had a heart attack)

I love my 7D, had it 18 months and im really pleased with it. Its a friend thats offered the swap I just thought id ask for thoughts really on the D7000. Might go out with him and swap for the day and see for my self. I dont know anything about it so there's nothing that I think i'll prefer.

Not the same friend who said your 7d is crap I hope.

No mate, not that idiot, he's got a nikon Film camera no idea what. I was telling this mate of the conversation with the first mate, thats how the offer came about. they know each other but only through me.

did i say the d7000 was better than the 7d? no, i didn't. did i say the 7d was better than the d7000? no, i didn't. all i said was that the d7000 was a quality camera, i have never used a 7d which is why i didn't make a remark towards the it. if you have used both cameras then you can easily make a comment on them but i was just clarifying that the d7000 is not a bad choice from the nikon side of things.

Huh?

I'm not swapping, slept on it and thought, if I knew everything about my 7D to a point where I wanted a new challenge then I would but, there is lots I haven't done with mine.

Pretty much my train of thought. Stick with what you know!
