what are you opinons? anything else worth considering at £600 new or less?

am also considering a macbook pro 13" base model with higher education discount which works out circa sub £800.

either the MBP or a higher spec pc laptop for less money.

cool
thanks

i'll check out the place. i don't know computer websites apart from pcworld etc.

are these people well known?

any other thoughts on spec and price?

is i3 processor good?

It's quite a big laptop, but the screen resolution isn't that big, also not too sure about how well a Samsung notebook would be built as I've not had experience of them before?

What about a normal Macbook? How much are they with education discount/from the refurb store?

higher ed or refurb current white macbook is circa sub £700 from £816.

the white ones don't seem to be as well built/ sturdy. i would end up buying a hard case for it guess at £30, and so £70 more might as well go for MBP

I bought my Lenovo S12 netbook there just before Christmas. No problems, quick and trackable delivery. I've had nothing wrong with it so have not needed to get in touch with them since.

If your thinking of going for a Macbook then just do it.I purchased one around 17 months ago and it is excellent.I don't use mine as very much due to having works laptop that i abuse.
The Macbooks are well built and will last you a long time.
You probably can get a better spec windows based laptop for the same money or even less, but come 2 years down the line it will be worth peanuts compared with the Mac.
(I'm not getting into the Mac vs Win debate)
Switching to the Mac may take a few days to find your way around but it isn't rocket science.
Go for the basic Macbook and you won't regret it.

i'm sold on the macbook LOL

white macbook with bigger hard drive or macbook pro with the nice shell and backlit keyboard...hmmm

refurb now has a white macbook £696 i think

and a macbook pro 13" £765

The unibody MacBooks are pretty sturdy, I've got one of the old style white Macbooks and it's tken a battering over the years and it's still going strong, but the new unibody ones do feel a lot more solid.

Personally I will be getting an MBP for my next laptop, but I'm not worried about spending an extra few hundred pounds to get what I want.

yeah the white unibody looks and feels good, but it appears for general use the keys and other white bits will get grubby, while the MBP aluminum case be easier to wipe over and the black keys won't show wear as much as the white keys

MBP sold to me LOL
might spec up a MBP 13" to 250GB and leave the 2GB RAM for now. I'll rather not upgrade harddrive in the future, while RAM is more plug and play.
