Greetings fellow TPers.
My wife and sister have decided it'd be nice to get me a medium format camera for my birthday but, with the way the economy/rent etc stands, they cant afford a massive amount.
They've found the above camera for sale for £20 (all working) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of that model and if it'd be any good as a starting point in medium format photography?

Many thanks
Mads

Or a Ross Ensign maybe, I picked up the Selfix 16-20 for £18 and it takes stunning images.

Let me get back to you, I might be able to get you an old Lubitel for free if you're interested, although it would be more of a long term loan until the next person comes along wanting to experiment with MF rather than a permanent arrangement.

Not the Travelling Lubitel, perchance ??

Possibly, I need to see if Gingerjon is ready for it to have a new loaner yet or if he's still using it.

Thanks Kev, that would be excellent. If he's not ready to part with it, no worries from my part, its only £20, and its not even £20 of my money :D

I think I've got a Lubitel in a box in the attic. A tenner to anyone who wants it. I bought it some years ago when a friend was into 120/220 film photography to see if I might also take it up, but only ever shot three or four rolls. The results were acceptable, if somewhat limited. Preferred 35mm then.
Incidentally I have some Olympus gear also sitting in boxes. OM2n, lenses, flash etc. Anyone interested?

Hi John, just a friendly word of warning as you're new here. All sales have to be done through the classifieds and you won't be able to post in there until you've been here a month and have 100 qualifying posts. If the mods find you trying to circumvent the rules they'll give you a slap on the wrist.

ninjah Kev wins....:p

Had a few Lubbies over the years, not a bad lens but a fragile shutter. Made sense when the cost twelve quid with a camera case and a season ticket on Aeroflot, much less when they stopped being disposable and cost proper money.
Too many nice old MF cameras about to spend real cash on a squeezy plastic soviet TLR.

Right then, birthdays been and gone. Didn't get a TLR as my sister didn't want to risk getting "the wrong one".
I'll confess I'm a little disappointed but I cant blame her at all, its daunting enough for someone with an interest to choose one.

Sorry Mads, I completely forgot about this (distracted by work). I'll PM Jon and see if he's willing to part with the Lubitel and get back to you. Happy birthday BTW.

Right, I've spoken to John and the Lubitel is yours (on loan until the next person wants to dabble with MF of course;)) He's got half a film in it to finish off and then he'll post it to you.

Excellent, thanks Kev (and John).
Whats the procedure now? Who wants my address and am I paying for postage, or do I pay the postage to the next person?

*does a lil dance*

Drop me a PM with your address and I'll ping it your way when I've done with the film which should be later this week.

Oh and hi - I'm gingerjon and I used to be around here a lot more than I have been. Must have a look about ...

What a brilliant thread, this should run till we all have passed the greater apertures.:lol:

Jon, I dont suppose there's any word on when you'll be finished with this? I dont mean to sound impatient, I just want to make sure I've not missed it in the post or something.
