I'm very happy to open registration for the portrait workshop!

Registration is now available online: http://www.cheryljacobsworkshops.com/Brighton.html

The venue will be announced shortly. I have two options, however the event manager for my first choice is away for the next week. Once I know which of the two venues we'll be using, I'll make the announcement.

AGENDA:

On the personal/psychological aspect of portraiture:

- connecting with your subjects and establishing rapport
- learning to work WITH your personality, rather than against it
- getting past personal space barriers (both yours and your subject's)
- handling difficult subjects, including behavior issues in children
- the importance of body language

On the technical side:

- creative metering (taught via handheld meter)
- how to position subjects while avoiding the look of stiff posing
- lighting for effect
- learning to create flattering light for different face and body shapes
- composing multiple subjects
- working with the subject's natural environment
- handling low light
- interpreting the print

This workshop will be beneficial for all levels of photographers, and will be particularly friendly to those who are new to photographing people. It is not necessary for you to be a professional or even aspire to be a professional. I do not plan to cover the business aspects of portraiture, although I'm open to discussing those issues over dinner and a good bottle of wine.

Thanks to all for making the idea a reality! Please don't hesitate to ask, either in this thread or by PM / e-mail, if I can answer any questions you may have.

I'm very excited to meet you all.

Not sure if its me but the link for registration is not working?

Very tempted but I very, very rarely take pictures of people.

Could you hold a motorsports workshop plz?

Just giving this a little bump. It's coming up quickly, and we still have a few available spots. As mentioned above, it's very appropriate for all levels of experience, and will be a whole lot of fun. We've got a great bunch already signed up -- come join us!

Would love to give this a go, but with only the 50mm left and funds going towards the 24-70 or 24-105 I doubt I'll be able to this time round. Any thoughts on another next year? :)

Come on, roll up, roll up - just think - come along and for NO extra cost, you get to meet me.......................

Looks like it'll be just me and the tattoo'ed woman then....

Well the tattooed women is quite the selling point. Will make sure to buy a lottery ticket this week... I feel lucky :)

Us fella's gotta stick together at times like this...!

Now theres an offer...I kind of knew when I joined this place that I would meet like minded people....................................
