What difference are we talking about? Resolution speed, reliability, accuracy?
I use a combo of opendns and google (8.8.8.8 ) on my local dns server and haven't had any bother. Whether they're better than sky's own I couldn't tell you.
Unless you're having a specific issue (poor performance, name not resolving) I doubt you'll notice any difference.
yeah i mean any DNS can have performance issues and/or not being up to date (most ISP advise on changes taking up to 48 hours etc) so its swings and roundabouts really.
just have a couple of mainstream ones set, like i say maybe opendns and google, and that should cover you.
Right, could you perhaps explain a little more about the Google one please Neil? When you say you use a combo of open DNS and the Google one, is that as in you might switch between using the two or are they both used together? If the later how and where do you enter the 8.8.8.8?
Cheers
you normally specify 2 (or more if you really want) DNS servers, use an OpenDNS one as 1 and the Google one as 2.
rather setting them on your machine i would change your router setup to issue these automatically though.
