Yes
I have just bought a Yongnuo 565EX having read the specs online. Now maybe I`m showing my age but wireless in my day was another name for radio but in the YN565 EX it means wire less as in no wires, it is in fact infra red. So to all you beginners like myself don`t make the same mistake. Now I am going to have to buy a pair of yn 622n triggers as my D3100 doesn`t have commander mode.

Easily done. It does make it pretty clear though...

"The YN565EX can be triggered by 580EX II, SB-900/800/700, 7D/60D/600D, Nikon c-command and ST-E2"

I'd be looking at my camera's manual to see if it can use the in-built flash as commander mode.

The triggers you are looking at are probably a better bet anyway though. The Nikon creative lighting system is good, but very limiting in terms of range and flexibility.

I lowered the power of the on board flash to the minimum to use it when I had my D3100.

the yn622n triggers are fabulous, however this will be little consolation since you are spending more money

Nothing new. I remember looking at Canon's website for the 430EXII and recall it said "wireless slave". It was only after reading more about speedliting that I understood the difference between wireless and radio.
