In the time it took for them to whiz by, I had time to come indoors, take the camera out of the pack, strap on the 70 - 200, go back outside, compose and shoot.

Its why the lens should stay on the body...makes it quicker to get vital shots. Innit

It happened to me the other year, when the Battle of Britain squadron (Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster) flew over the house in formation, and the camera was upstairs in its case, with the 135mm and extension tubes attached to it
.I think you may see a few more this year though, particularly if you are around Rochester at the time of the Summer concerts. We had a Hurricane warming up for the evening concert over the Medway valley, but the light was a bit dim, so I just sat in a chair with the binoculars enjoying the show.

Yeah I've seen them going up the valley too in the past.
Maybe this had something to do with today's commemorations.
Definitely, and I think that most of the aircraft this year will be sporting "invasion stripes" (black and white stripes on fuselage and wings) to commemorate the D Day landings.

missed them ,,,i was at cooling castle doing my uncle bob with a film camera duties. but i have seen jets trying to drag roof tiles off in the past .
