I must admit I'm really disappointed with Honda's effort. I wanted a Type R not a rebadged VTi

I could live with the looks if it meant I got the JDM spec with Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, at least 220 bhp, proper rear suspension and a limited slip diff but this one just fails for me in all departments

There is no reason for me to change my EP3 in for one, and that's a shame. I see Litchfields are getting the FD2 in but for £23k they can do one.

Enjoy the new car Cedric but it's not for me. Air conditioned gloveboxes are really not what Type R's are about

the car looked like a migrant family had been living in it for the last week. :(

Any chance you can muster up a pic of your interior around the audio center?

I think once I own the car, i'd get the seating position and the rest of it sorted. I found on the short test drive that I couldn't see the top of the rev counter because the steering wheel obscured it and it also blocked my view of some of the heating controls.
I had freeeeeeziing feet for a wee while as the aircon was blasting downwards.

The other thing with the quality inside is being compared to a focus, while focus is still only a mid range hatch, it's interior build quality and feel was better.

but a nice to touch dash and a firmly sprung switch doesn't make an exciting car :D

as i say...it all depends on my car at the mo.....:(

Btw....what was the upgrade on the speakers...and is that factory or dealer upgrade?

I'll sort you a pic out of the dash tomorrow.

It's the cheapest speaker upgrade- the 100 quid one. I'm not sure on the spec of the speakers. I thought it was a factory upgrade, but I'm not entirely sure tbh.

Be wary of the Bose? Bass upgrade! From what I can gather it's about 500 quid and the control box for setting levels etc is built behind the dash somewhere where you can't get at it at all. I understand Swindon will install it in the glove box by special request. No-one who's paid the money has been impressed with it either as far as I can see.

I wouldn't consider the bass upgrade, you don't need to drown the howl out :)

I thought the induction roar was more pronounced on the new car......no need for a mod to the filter now

look forward to pics CT

LOL I hear ya! Having driven the EP3 for 4.5 years though, I was ready for a bit more comfort but didn't want a shopping trolley or lardmobile so it ticks all the boxes for me. :)

The dealer was saying a lot of EP3s are back on the forecourt in two years or less - just too uncompromising for a lot of people. I do see the point of view of you die hards though. ;)

Cheers CT

I think Honda are trying to tell me something.....yesterday the salesman gave me a civic R brochure and today Honda have sent one through the post for me. :D

JFDI - you know you want to. ;)

Ummm... I've corrected the WB - the dash isn't really blue! :coat:

I can't do anything at the moment until my issues with my Focus are resolved one way or another, plus.....there aren't any available to the end of september :D

what number is yours?

Awkward git - it's in the garage. I'll have a look in a minute.

If you get another test drive btw - switch of the traction control! Apart from applying braking as necessary it adjusts engine output if it senses a wheel slipping. It suits me to poodle round with it on but when you switch it off .... whoooo!

Sorry, Cedric... you bought the wrong Civic Type-R. Check this out:

the demo car i carefully pottered about in was numbered 170

My little 1.6 hire car felt very very slow after a blast in the R

The Teg should have certainly done better I'd have thought.

the guy in the Teg Type R was changing up really early ? or was i imagining things ? lol

Yup, he definitely changed up at 7000rpm from first to second after getting away from the start line. :cuckoo:

I was surprised by how long it took the NSX to get past,

The s2k should have done better too.

The S2K oversteers like a pig in the corners. - a real handful. I ran one for 3 years.

The NSX was just toying with the Civic. I'd take Best Motoring videos with a pinch of salt to be honest. It's "entertainment video" rather than a real review. I want The Stig to drive all 5 cars around the Top Gear test track for a definitive. ;)... oh, and also the UK FN-2 CTR.
