I've test-driven one, for some reason I preferred my old EP3. (Dash gearchange, felt lighter, etc.)

Anyway, family commitments mean I've just taken delivery of an FR-V diesel......

Know what you mean. I love the new one though, not quite so hardcore, bit more refined... just as big a hoologan when you want it to be though. ;)

Picking it up Wed morning btw... 11am.

Glad to hear it. I'll always have a soft spot for any Type-R.
<jealous mode on />

I'm picking it up with an 07 plate till the dealer can get me personal plate sorted.

The plate reads D* 0* *PE

Oh well.

Bog standard GT version just with the front speaker upgrade.

Cheaper than my FR-V :'( :'(
Kids eh.....

Hope you enjoy it (as if you won't.....)

Getting the bluetooth kit and iPod adapter fitted in the FR-V today (negotiated free of charge).
Won't make up for 200 bhp and 8,000 rpm gearchanges though....

I had an induction and Hayabusa exhaust on my EP3, what a glorious sound. Used to drive up and down the A27 through a tunnel just for the hell of it.:D

Still got the CAI to return to stock and get the radio replaced. PITA. I took the Hayabusa off a while back. The neighbours have stopped giving me funny looks now.

I know what you mean, the missus kept making me put the silencer bung in it.
I had to pretend it had fallen out on the motorway and I'd lost it......

lol, sounds like fun.

I can just imagine Cedders driving around town playing Chamillionaire - Ridin'

It was just that start up in the morning when it was cold!

LOL. It's loads of fun, but it's potentially lethal in the wrong hands. It's an awful lot of performance for the money. The trouble with the Type R last model is the styling is so 'In your face' it's like a red rag to a bull to a lotta people who are prepared to be really dangerous. The red 'R's splatterd all over it don't help. There's just a discreet Type-R badge on the back on the new model. You gotta pay for the front one if you want it now, and the side sticker. I've passed on those.

Sadly as the outgoing model gets more affordable it'll become more accessible to the idiots as long as they can stretch to the insurance and eventually it's destined to become the modern equivalent of the XR3 i - all chavved up and just gettng a bad name.

You see 'em now - weaving in and out of traffic - cutting everybody up.

I went on a couple of Type-R meets when it first came out and it was great - everyone observing 30 limits. Of course on the back roads ... you don't buy 'em to drive like clergymen. ;)

Yup, got cut up by one the other week actully.

OT - Had my MOT today, £250! Nice long list of welding and crap, suspension all sorts. Suppose it's done now though ;(

LOL. The joys of motoring Danno! :D

Oh yes :P

Tried to purswade my mum to let me get a new car, but she said I should get the MOT done, or I wont beable to sell it :(

Well we picked it up this morning, and did manage a quick blat up to Cannock Chase to get some shots while it was still clean. Nothing special - p***itively possing it down so a very quick job.

17-40L if anyone is remotely interested in the photography. ;)

Lovin it!

LOL Puts a huuuuge grin on your face Yosef, I tell ya! :D

Totally different car to the outgoing model. I can actually listen to the radio at motorway speeds.

Ct

I am amazed to find my inbox doesn't have any high res images :(

If I can get my car replaced under a commitment scheme, the new car is being sold to make way for another rice rocket. :D

looks a big if at the mo though :(

Nice. :) Milano Red is the fastest colour, after all.

I called in at the dealership where I got my old ctr from this afternoon and went out for a 1/2 blat in their NHB Gt.

Their car has 3k miles on it and the interior was in a shocking state with scratches on most of the interior panels. How are you finding the interior compared to the ep3?

Also, is the activ glass rear screen doing it's job or is wet weather driving giving poor visiblity out the back screen?

Jumping into the new one after driving a boring car for 6 months was like a breath of fresh air..... :)

Sharper and better weighted steering than the old ctr's, and the suspension felt more at home on bumpy A roads than I remember in the old car.

I managed to miss shift 2nd a few times though when in hooligan mode from the lights.....the linkage was looser than the old dash mounted set up......car fault or is yours quite loose?

NHB gt with the ipod connector  HOW MUCH  could be on the cards. Would have liked the sat nav and bluetooth.....but I'm not paying 1.4k to be nagged at on the move :D

LOL. When I picked mine up they told me the next deliveries are August - can't get 'em for love nor money - they've sold the demo cars as well so have none in stock at all at the moment.

I love the interior of the new model - much nicer levels of comfort and far more toys - not lacking for anything really. The radio has that feature where it gets louder as you go faster so it's no problem listening to it at motorway speeds, which you couldn't with the old model.

I was quite worried about losing the rear wiper, but then I realised it was never a problem on my old MR2. It's not been a problem at all in the heavy rain we've had the last few days. A sensible feature is that one switch turns on the heated rear window and the heated side mirrors. Even in the heaviest rain the section of rear screen under the rear spoiler stays pretty clear anyway.

They've really cured the wandery steering of the old car - one of the best things about the new model, and despite the softer suspension it corners even better.

I dunno if I'd describe the gear shift as loose, but I don't think it's quite as short and snicky as the old one, I've fluffed a few changes but got used to it now.

The only upgrade I had was the front speaker upgrade -100 quid and well worth it I reckon. I use Tomtom for satnav anyway. The CD player has a nice feature where you can browse MP3 files in folders. I've just put about 100 tracks on a CD and when I'm fed up of 'em I'll just burn some more.

I think you can spec it up to about 26K if you go mad.

Aye, i've got the option list here

The steering was much sharper on the new car, pitty the cruddy bridgestones were still there too though :(

The glass is supposed to be that self cleaning activ glass...time will tell on it's performance i think.

The sales rep told me the same story re availability, non now till september which suits me as I haven't got a clue whats happening with my car at the mo. :(

I felt interior quality wasn't as good as the old car, but i loved the fold flat rear seats.

did they really need the yellow rpm lights and the red vtec light.......can you honestly say your looking at the dash when the horizion is coming towards you at warp speed?

it'll be a change to go back to +3500 rpm @ 70mph compared to 2000 in my oil burner :D

I think the interior quality is better. Sounds like it's really been knocked about in that demo car?

I like the rev lights - just in the right place next to the speedo so you don't really have to look down at the tacho at all. Change up on the last orange light and you avoid the rev limiter and probably change up optimally too.

The VTEC light isn't enabled on mine - it's an option selected through the onboard computer and I'm ****ed if I can work out how to enable it - it's doin' me head in.

JFDI! I reckon you'll love it. :D
