Hi, I have been useing OnOne suite but since the upgrade to 8 been having a lot of issues with the prgram freezing and even the upgrade to 8.5 has made no differance so has anyone used both OnOne and Topaz software and would forward an opinion as don't want to throw money at Topaz if it is not so good. I no I can download a trial of Topaz but to give an opinion in a short trial period is not really the answer for me.
I use windows 7 64bit 16 GB RAM 2 X SSD's along with 2 other drives for storage.
Thanks in Advance
Russ

I had loads of issues with OnOne, never any problems with Topaz though. Ajust is ok, and I like Clarity, don't use the others much though.

I'm using OnOne and Topaz both as Lightroom plug-ins.
I've never had problems with either, but I do find myself using Topaz Adjust, Clarity and Detail more than I use any of the OnOne programs.
Nothing against OnOne, it's just that I find I can get the results I want quicker and easier with Topaz.

I'm just about fed up with OnOne now, suites 4,6,7 and 8 have all given me crashes when applying changes which has caused CS to quit. Luckily later versions on CS autosaved the image in it's state prior to OnOne tweaking which meant all wasn't lost, but I have lost images due to it :(

I'm going to try the Nix stuff next i think

Hi, Yes same problems with OnOne, when PS CS6 open and OnOne suit the suite just shut down everything had to use force close to restart computer then useing from Lightroom the brushes some times just freeze and have to force shut down the suite, going to give Topaz a try as it seems to have good reviews also already have NIK but since Google took it over there as far as I can see not been any upgrades to the original software like HDR Pro etc etc.

I've had OnOne plugins cause problems when launching them from Photoshop's extension panel.

The solution was to launch them from File>Automate instead.

I have no issues opening the On One suite, my problem which has happened on 2 different macs and all the previously listed suite versions only seems to happen when I apply changes. doesn't matter if i'm working on 8 bit or 16bit, jpg or psd or even tiff.

I've never tried using the brushes from lightroom or as a stand alone program.

It seems like those who are having problems with OnOne are using it with Photoshop.
All I can say is that I use it as a Lightroom plug-in under Windows 7 64-bit, and it seems to be trouble free.

Thanks for the replies.
Brian and Brian G, what graphics card are you useing? only ask as when I spoke to OnOne they suggested an upgrade of the card may solve the problem so I got a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
but still have freezes when brushes are used.

Thanks
Russ

Uninstalled On One Suite 8, just full of errors when using inside Photoshop. Worst one of all was probably when using the update tool. Crash and close with an error code I can't remember. On One couldn't help, suggesting it was the spec of the computer, and this being an i7 system with 16gb ram multiple SSD drives and a ATI 290x GPU card.

Hmm...
An interesting question.
I was using a really basic ATI 4550 card, but since I now own Photoshop (CS6) for the first time I decided to upgrade to an ATI Radeon R7 250 accelerated graphics card (obviously with the latest drivers).
I only installed this new card a week ago and I haven't used PhotoSuite 8.5 since I installed it, and I haven't previously used PhotoSuite with Photoshop, only as a Lightroom plug-in.
My operating system is Windows 7 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
It's been criticized before, but within Lightroom there are two ways to access the OnOne Suite.
You can access the individual modules (Perfects Effects, Perfect Enhance etc.) via the "Photo" > "Edit In" menu, but to access the full suite you have to use the "File" > "Plug In Extras" command.
I'm wondering if people are getting different results dependent on the method of loading the OnOne Suite, although as I mentioned previously, I don't appear to have any problems either way.
Whilst writing this reply I just had a very quick play with OnOne via Lightroom, and it still works exactly as before with my new ATI graphics card, although I must emphasize that it really was a quick play, with just a few enhancements and adjustments.

I mentioned in another post that the people who are having problems are running OnOne as a Photoshop plug-in, and I've only used it with Lightroom.
In fact, I'm not sure I can run the version I have with Photoshop.
Having only recently acquired CS6 I'll have to find out about pug-ins, although all my NIK & Topaz plug-ins appear under the "Filter" menu, OnOne is not there.

Did you reinstall onOne after you installed CS6?

The onOne plugin folders should be stored in here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins

And the onOne extension panel folder in here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Panels

I'm using On-one suite 8.5 as a lightroom plugin and have not had crashing, either going through the suite or direct to PE - I use the brushes a lot. I always open through plugin extras.

Dell XPS 15 laptop & windows 8.1.

No, I didn't reinstall anything after CS6, but my NIK and Topaz plug-ins seem to have arrived in the right places without doing anything.
Edit: I recall now that I had to enable Topaz in the Preferences > Plug-Ins > Additional Plug-Ins Folder, but there only appears to be the option of having one set of additional plug-ins installed there.
I'll check out the folders and try and figure out why OnOne does not appear.
I'd assume, since I installed OnOne as a Lightroom plug-in that it resides in a different folder from the one you suggest.
TBH it doesn't bother me too much since I normally access OnOne through Lightroom, but it would be nice to have everything available via both programs.

I once had to use the manage plugins tool in LR to install PE as a plugin, but in recent versions of perfect suite I've not had to do that.

I contacted OnOne support regarding accessing the software through Photoshop.
It appears that the Lightroom version will only run under Lightroom, and to enable it in Photoshop I need the Premium edition.
As a registered user they are offering to upgrade me at a very attractive price, which I am considering.
I normally access OnOne through Lightroom, and In view of the reported problems people are having running it in Photoshop, I'm not sure it's really worth the upgrade, cheap as it may be.

Hi, Can you not download a trial version for PS and test it out?

Not quite sure what that will achieve.
If using it with Photoshop gives unreliable results, I might as well keep it as a Lightroom plug-in, since it's reliable and that's the way I use it at present.
I only got Photoshop for the occasional things I can't do in Lightroom.
