Im from the car scene myself. As a cheap setup, get yourself some sort of 50mm 1.8. One of the best start lenses before moving forward. For car stuff, a mainly now shoot with an 85mm only.

Get posting with photos and settle in. A good wealth of knowledge on ere.

Heres two examples with the Sigma 85 1.4

The 50mm 1.8's available can get the same look but maybe bit less background separation. Not the end of the world though.
