I do have to laugh at the American sometimes, don't get me wrong i have been there a few times and love the place. but

Why is it that in there own sports they have to have the titles of World Champions for the winners,

The Super Bowl has just been played and the Pittsburgh Steelers were crown world champions in a sport only they play. As is true in base ball where the best 2 teams in America play in the world series to find out who is the world champions
