Does anyone have any experience with the all-in-one options from companies like 123-reg, fasthosts, etc? Are they horribly limited in terms of bandwidth, storage, customisability, etc or perfectly adequate for most needs?

I'm going to be working with my dad to put something together for his bar/restaurant in Spain and need something foolproof, including domain & email. I personally just own a domain and point that to my 500px portfolio, which serves a purpose well enough for my needs.

i was with 1&1 and found it a total mess to use. and not exactly cheap either tbh for what you got.
i now just use a free weebly account and have my own domain pointed at it.
only restriction is images are limited to no bigger than 10mb per image ( and tbh i resize all my web images to under 1mb for fast loading ). doesnt seem to be any restriction on number of pages and though it has a powered by weebly logo at the bottom of the page there are no ad's or banners and you can go pro ( $6 ( about £4 a month ) or a starter for around £2.50 a month which removes that logo at the bottom and adds a couple of extra features. ( you can see the comparisons here ) https://www.weebly.com/weebly/apps/...efer=editor_top_bar&type=premium&comparison=1

really i guess its down to your budget, your requirements and your ability in web design.
my budget is pretty much nil at moment for this, my web design skills are pretty much having zero knowledge of html other than wht i can copy and paste , and the free version gives me enough to have a website up and running that isnt totally awful.
to give an idea this is my website which im actually currently overhauling ( so alot of images arent on it yet ) but gives you a small idea and if you look on weebly you can see plenty of other better examples.

ive tried wordpress, wix and a few others and just couldnt get on with them.

Personally, my feeling is that all online website builders are the work of the devil, but my dad get's on pretty well with moonfruit, I think he uses the free package.

I agree, it is virtually impossible to move your business elsewhere. And with options like wordpress being so easy and userfriendly you can move and host your website nearly anywhere...Your dad can update his content easily himself etc...

Just pick a nice style sheet / theme, or even better have one developed aligned with his branding and off you go....
