My first thought would be carefully go through those 1200 and ditch all that you a never going to use. You might as well get in the habit now, rather than spending hours trawling through 20,000 images a few years down the line ( yes, I had to do that!)
I know as a newbie it's fun and worthwhile too shoot as much as possible, but be ruthless and honest. Do you really need 200 pictures of the same thing, do you need slightly out of focus ones, over exposed etc.

I use carbonite, it's £40 a year for unlimited storage and automatically backs up instantly, so it's constantly running.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the sound advice...

I have no intention of keeping all 1200... (The wording on my post was very poor)

Couldnt agree more about being 'ruthless' and only keeping the ones that really matter to me ,

Thanks for letting me know about Carbonite (new one to me)
It sounds good to me

Kind Regards

Hi,

You may want to check with your ISP, I'm with BT and they provide 5GB online storage for free or £5pm for 50GB , not much but worth checking with your ISP

Also just come across this today for andriod users....

This promotion ends on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:59pm PST, so grab your free 50GB on Box by following these steps:

1. Visit the Android Marketplace and download Box for Android
2. Log into your account or register for a new one directly from the app
3. Start sharing and collaborating in the cloud
4. (optional but recommended) Tell the world how you’ll use your 50GB with the hashtag #Box50GB

Android Users Get 50GB FREE

Last, if you use newsgroups check this out, newsdemon are offering 30GB of online storage along with their USENET (newsgroup) service for £4.44pm.

Ben I think you have misread Tony's post.

This promotion ends on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:59pm PST.

You haven't missed the boat and still have 20 days remaining.

If you have a Hotmail account you get 25Gb of FREE storage on SkyDrive.

That's for every Hotmail account you have.

I store a great deal of stuff up there including a lot of essential documents (bank statements etc) in case any catastrophe ever happened to my home.

Well worth having.

You need to have silverlight installed to do batch uploads.

.

I have the box account and use it for sharing some pictures. The problem with it though is that you have to pay in order to be able to use the desktop sync tool. So as an online automatic backup it's pretty useless. Unless someone knows of a program which can be used with a free account?

If I'm out with friends or where someone might want a picture I have taken I'll put on photo bucket, if I'm happy with the picture and I feel it's good I'll put it on Flickr

Try Picasa too. I heard it has a good feature that would be ample for most people.
I've also read from web.appstorm.ne that Divvyshot is comparatively new to the photo storage and sharing market but is absolutely favorable and is free. You should check it out too. :)
