Hi, Anyone got any ideas on how I could show the change in society because of the internet in my photos.

Hmm, probably some sort of apposing images set. Lan party v.s youth center or something. Or maybe get down the local 'ye olde' library and shoot some old folk using the pcs. Ermm, late night nigerian internet cafe, things like that. Either way you'll probably be looking at a set.
 
Thanks I like both of those ideas alot and didnt expect them.

Any ideas for idenity showing that you have no identity on the net.

I have brought one of those plastic white face masks, was hoping to do something with that to show how you are anonymous on the net.

I could get a few more and use them in the LAN party maybe.

Thats a bit too forced imho, too obvious. Games have been around for over 25 years so thats not a new thing in society. Plus football is bigger than ever. I've been to childrens playgrounds with my nephew and they still seem popular. I would go with benneh's ideas. Find actual changes and document them.

I think a set of images showing lan parties and other such gaming related things, maybe if you can get to it some games tradeshow and take photographs there showing how big a business it is now.
 
Hmmmm. It was big business back in 2000 when I went to the old ECTS. Of course its even bigger now but I'm not convinced about the idea. I think it might be better to show how the Internet has affected daily life for the average person, rather than a subculture.
 
The first idea that popped into my head was having a picture of someone who was clearly timid in real life, followed by a picture of the same person playing taking charge and being ultra-sociable the minute they're plugged into an online game. Might be hard to capture in a couple of images though.

I spent 10 odd years playing Everquest, World of Warcraft etc, and nothing amazed me more than the transformation of some people once they were protected by a degree of anonymity and once the danger of having your head caved in for being an arse was removed.
 
I can see what you are thinking about but I think it would be a hard thing to visualise other than a set of images showing the person in socal situations looking obviously out of place/nervous then a shot infront of the machine then maybe a couple of screencaps edited like photos depicting a similar situation to the start of the set only with the roles reversed and the person taking charge.

yea your computer may not be but you are (such as fraud)

thanks for all your ideas. i think benbo has the right idea to show the transition and i think petemc is right about the gaming thing not being right for this situation.

I was thinking of also doing an identity parade but with the masks so its an anonymous identity parade

Any other ideas for the mask?
