I do wonder if all the sellers (and even all the buyers) are aware of the Distance Selling Regulations (DSR). I am looking to spend a few hundred pounds online and routinely check out the sellers retruns policy. I am horrified to see some talk about the DSR and then go on to say there will be a certain percentage restocking fee which is NOT allowed.

One heck of a shock to return a camera at £400 to have £40 and even £80 taken off your refund?

having spent thousand not hundreds online buying camera equipment I ahve neither heard nor care about DSR ... Manufacturers waranty is all that matters and anything wrong i send to canon and sorted wihtin days... far quicker than doing a return which by the time you get the camera you wanted could be weeks.

But DSR isn't to do with faulty goods. It allows a buyer to change their mind about a purchase and return for a full refund. I think the idea behind it is that if it is a distance purchase then you haven't had a chance to examine the item like you would in a shop.

Yes spot on and I guess I was trying to say to pople on this forum beware as some may order, not realise about the restocking charges (against the DSR), then have a shock on returning the item/s. Even more so when overseas suppliers as there would be no UK DSR's in force.
