Edit My Images
Yes
I'm sure there's such thing as a website that you upload your image to that will then print off your image and send it to you but I was just wondering if there are any that you guys would recommend using.

What I'm planning on doing is taking photos of family and friends and then printing them on their request for a bit of money. For instance, I have a nice photo of our dog and my mum would like it printing on a canvas to hang in the living room.

Anyway, I look forward to any responses :)

tradecanvasprint seem to have some decent prices :)

agree with Barry, DSCL

but...... make sure your screen is calibrated!!!! or you could have some disappointed family.

On DSCL, what's all this auto corrected and pre-corrected? Do I have to resize the images myself? - For ordinary prints that is.

I always pre-size my prints to whatever I want them printing at. As I'm using a calibrated monitor I don't use auto, especially as a lot of prints are dark moody images, auto would try and lighten them up.

If you are using DSCL for the first time, I would recommend that you have two prints of each image, one auto and the other not. Go for about 3 or 4 different images, some colour some monochrome and see how they appear to you before doing a big order.

Okay, I'll do a few small orders and have a little experiment before I start printing for family ect. :)

Ughh, I was just about to order a few prints from DSCL for just over £1 then BOOOOOM, £3 something postage :L

What did you expect postage to be lol

What did you expect postage to be lol

I didn't even want the photos to be honest, I expected free postage. But instead, £3.70 and then £1 tax. £6 for 10 photos I don't want :L

Why do you expect free postage?

Why do you expect free postage?

It was only for a few regular prints so they would just have to go in an envelope with a first class stamp which certainly doesn't cost £3.70

Free postage! Lmao!

hahahahahaha!!!!!

You'll find that whilst its down as postage it also covers the packaging, the credit card fees (that Ryanair would charge you £5) and then the 20% to the VAT man..... and it takes the same amount of time to generate all the invoicing and to pack etc.....

I use Digilabpro. Gloss or lustre prints, good service.

Why dont you use a company like Boots use their machine not Kodak machine so a actually person gets involved in doing the prints. You will get much better quality paper then the Kodak machine and its cheaper to.

It looks like I'll have to man up and pay for DsCL but rather than doing a test, I'll wait until I actually want some photos printing so it won't seem so much of a robbery.

Josh, it is not robbery, it is a perfectly legitimate charge.

The postage is fixed, so what may seem excessive for four small pics, suddenly looks bloody good value when ordering 24 x16 or 60 x 40s, for example.

I know it isn't robbery, what I mean is it won't seem as much once I've got more that I need printing. With just a small number it seems a bit silly, so I'll wait :D

Good idea.............

I do that as well, cos i`m a tight git.............

So a regular envelop that would get bent and you would end up with damaged prints lol

I would still advise that you do a small order first, just to make sure that the DSCL prints match your monitor, as you may need to brighten or darken your monitor to match what is printed. As for the P&P charge, that is sod all when you see how well protected your prints are whilst in transit in Postman Pats van. I also wait until I have a big order, normally every two or three weeks.

I'll wait until I can make a biggER order then  10 prints is a little pointless :)

Josh, make sure your color space matches, usually srgb. Profile your monitor, or at least make sure it isn't too bright. Most default brightness settings are meant for office work, not photographic editing.

Digilabpro will send rolled in a tube or flat in a stiffened envelope. I've never had a problem. Its worth paying a bit extra for postage for quality. Don't even think of Boots if you want anything other than happy snaps.

In that case you'll be screwed. I can assure you that your first batch without a test run will be underexposed.

This is why i said go to boots to see if the pictures are underexposed,Cheaper than doing a test if you dont want to pay postage.

How can ensure my screen is set right?

By getting it calibrated.

I agree with 'The23rdman' you will be disappointed with your first order. Just spend the tenner and get a few 12x8 prints done, some colour and some monochrome with a good range of colours and tones. Then when you get them adjust your monitor to match as closely as possible to the new prints, then when you order some more prints, they will be pretty close to what you see on your monitor.

Oh right, so I need to get some prints to calibrate :)

This is the cheapest way to get your monitor somewhere near calibrated.

Do report back when you get them.

Okay, I need to wait for my new PC to arrive first. I'm using my laptop at the moment so obviously it would be hard to calibrate with the stupid screens they have
