Online buying at the moment

I had a DPD delivery scheduled for today.
The supplier said it should arrive between 11:56-‍12:56.
It arrived bang on 12 mid day,
I guess the lack of traffic probably means they can get their deliveries done more quickly.

They're still taking the photos - I have 3 classics of the "goods in" guys at work doing jazz hands - courtesy of Herpes
Hermes tracking just had a covid-19 statement, no photo ... but then there could't be because they didn't deliver it here!

Got messed around with a ring flash from e.bay ,seller refunded me ,so bought one yesterday on amazon delivery next week it turned up today , now waiting on a few e.bay bits coming by Royal Mail but they seem to be having problems

Just been on the DPD online tracking.

Date & Time Location Description
08 Apr 2020 03:20 DPD Your parcel has arrived at our depot
07 Apr 2020 21:40 DPD We have your parcel, and it's on its way to our depot
07 Apr 2020 16:00 DPD We have your parcel and it's on its way to you
07 Apr 2020 14:40 MPB We've received your order details, and we're expecting your parcel shortly

Although it gives the location of who the parcel is with, it does not seem to give the area location. So gives no idea if it is their DPD depot down south, or up north. But at least parcel is on it's way. :)

I ordered a book from amazon for a friend las Thursday
Original delivery date 15th April
Dispatched from Denmark on Saturday
Email on Sunday saying it would arrive on the 9th April
Arrived yesterday

Not had any problems with anything online as yet

I think Amazon are playing it very safe with delivery dates for anything not deemed 'essential'. A few things I've ordered were listed as a week or two (with Prime) but have actually only been two working days.

Well finally got some tracking information

Parcel A, (which is actually 2 parcels in order) came in first apparently didn't pick that one up until yesterday (even though company said it was dispatched on monday) as of this morning it's at the national Hub!

Parcel B, I do have my hopes up, as I can only assume they just shoved through the system without taking it tracking details, as tracking kicked in this morning, straight to its in the delivery depot and ready for delivery! So hope later this morning it goes to out for delivery!

But not sure which is the more frustrating, not knowing where about's in the country or knowing where it's too and waiting for them to bung it in the van or on the lorry to actually deliver it.

I received the following email message:

We'll deliver your parcel
TODAY
7th April ‍2020

between
‍11:56-‍12:56

The DPD van pulled up outside my house at exactly 12 noon.

I have a parcel due today, don't think I need worry about a dedicated slot
I'm retired, wife on paid absence and daughter furloughed, should be someone in

Our under counter freezer broke a few days ago, only AO seemed to have anything suitable in stock. Normally free delivery but they wanted £35 for weekday delivery and even more for timed slot, so I arranged for Sunday delivery at £10 (odd it should be cheaper), then decided as we managed to get a food delivery slot for previous Friday we would need freezer earlier, rebooked AO delivery (sod the expense), but their website rebook page didn't charge us the extra £20, arrived early Friday morning.

I ordered a lens from WEX last week and they sent it by parcel force. They said it might not arrive for 4 working days because of the current situation, but the next day I got an email saying it was out for delivery with a 2 hour time slot. So all good.

Your MPB order will be delivered today by your DPD driver, between 11:32 and 12:32.

Looking forward to my little treat.

Another update....

Apparently all parcels from A&B are being delivered today.... So I'm hoping both are on the same van/lorry.. as received email for one and estimated delivery time, but parcels A, just says out for delivery but has the same time out as B parcel!

I've just had mine delivered, all wipe down with disinfectant, gloves and wipes safely in bin, and just giving it a couple of hours before I open the parcels, oh hands washed thoroughly... That is if I can wait that long :banana:

My delivery came, DPD chap took photo of open door, optional whether to appear in the picture or not.
Box now in quarantine for a few days, not in any hurry to open it

We are avoiding the largest local supermarket in our market town as the customers in there take very little notice of minimum distance. My 2nd and last visit during this situation had me flattened against shelving trying to avoid people who didn't give a damn.

In my two local Tesco Extra branches, it's not the customers that are the problem, but the home delivery staff who are pushing past customers - when they're not standing around within inches of each other chatting... (yes I do realise home delivery orders are fully booked and they have to get orders picked, but when the store has a 'one way' system in place and it's the staff ignoring it management should be aware of what their staff are doing)

They have always been like that, just one of the reasons we never shop in Tesco

How odd, I haven't seen one in my last couple of visits, thought perhaps they were doing it out of hours

Since St Ives gained a Morrison's and will shortly be gaining an Aldi we don't go to Huntingdon very often now.

I live five minutes walk from Waitrose, have been to Morrisons a couple of times
Won't be going to Aldi, can't see any reason for building it, more traffic congestion

The DPD person did not take a photo of our open door. There was a knock and when I opened the door, he was already down the path waived and went. He may have taken a photo of the package, while it was outside the front door.

Had a delivery via Herpes today. Apparently it was delivered at 12.41pm, but no signature because Covid, no photo either. Not a trace of the box either in my building or the other company office next door, nor in the unit opposite that has a related address (we're building B, they are unit B). No way to easily report a failed delivery either. It turns out to have been left outside our other building in the car parking area by the box containing the gas meter & not near a door.

At least I got it in the end. :)

I've been waiting for a bird seed delivery from them for 10 days, parcel is held up by Hermes who say "it's a little too big for normal delivery".
The birds are equally fed up and I've got a lot less to photograph waiting for this:LOL:

Had to put out SWMBO's cereal sunflower seeds and she's not happy ... mind you the birds don't look too pleased either yet!

GWD packed the 2 12.5kg bags of mealworm in separate boxes which took under a week to arrive via DPD.

I'm experiencing similar here, I didn't really realise before the amount of useless junk I buy and how often - not online but just every day spends. Take away food for the family to take a break from cooking at least once a week, the money I spend on lunches for work, buying random crap just because I happen to be in town etc ... I have actually saved a nice little bundle and I'm right up to date with all bills to boot.
Likewise same here

Likewise same here

I've managed to save enough over the past 4-5 weeks for a new PC, which is great! And this is after all bills have been sorted, so happy about that. It won't be anything fancy, but it'll beat the 8yr old laptop I'm currently using :D Never could get it done before all of this, because I'm generally useless when it comes to any kind of saving. When I'm out and about, I'm spending everywhere I go - mostly on junk

7 days after ordering a lens from Panamoz it's arrived this morning, I don't think thats too bad considering the current lockdown, and a bank holiday weekend.

Pre Virus days ......... I can't remember the last time I bought anyhtign other than food from a shop.... In the last fortnight I have bought a book. A memory stick, a firestick and a set of tplinks all online.. I would never have bought these from a shop anyway..

The downside is I have put a hold on PRINT sales on my website and gone FILES only because the lab I was using (photobox) went to 3 weeks delivery at one point :(

I filled the car just before lock down and the tank still shows full. I even had to put the battery on charge as it was flat.( Chinese made charger)

I still buy on line, no problem. Everything gets a wash when it comes into the house. I do not mind whether things are Chinese or not. In many cases they are the only real option. Nor do I mind waiting for things to arrive from China/Hong Kong or where ever.
At the moment I am cogitating about getting a Smallrig " L" type bracket for my X T30 they are easily the best available, and they even extend to give space, when using a remote release cable on a tripod. As well as having various fixing points for accessories. they even have a nice wooden grip as standard.

Wait how long did your car sit on idle?

Bought an iPad adapter a few days ago from Amazon but it was useless, ...no less than useless, so opted to return.
Had a friend pick up this morning on his work round and drop it off to the local Post Office, which he did late morning.
Had an email a while ago saying that my refund had been processed!
Really can't fault that!

Wait how long did your car sit on idle?

Three weeks unused, and hardy enough miles to keep it going before that.

(most weeks I only drive under 25 miles and in winter half of that with headlights.... non LED.)
