No
So if you were only allowed to own one zoom and one prime, what would it be?

For me it would be 24-105mm and 85mm 1.8 on my 5D.

Interested to read your choices. :)

P.S. Searched to see if there was similar thread but couldn't find one so apologies it it has already been discussed.

Zoom - Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VRll (my favourite lens).
Prime - Nikon 400 f2.8 (my 'most wanted' lens).

Argh thats hard ... on a 450d .. both canon lenses

18-200mm zoom and the 50mm 1.4 prime

....... Until tomorrow when I will want a 300mm zoom

I currently only own 2 primes and 2 zooms and I would happily trade in both the zooms for anything else so can't answer the part of the question. As for which prime lens, I think it would have to be my 50mm 2.5, it's a very handy little lens

i'd have the 35-90 HC and the 150N HC

Prime - 50mm f1.8

I only have 2 zooms - the 28-135mm IS USM and the 70-300mm L IS USM and I really can't choose between the two since they complement each other for the kind of pics I take.

.

Only one of each.. tough choice, but probably..

Prime - Mamiya Sekor 180mm
Zoom - Sigma 10-20mm

Not on the same camera, obviously.. the zoom was a tough one as I'm not massively keen on any of them in comparison to primes - not being a lens snob, it's just that using a zoom to adjust the composition doesn't fit with how I enjoy shooting.

24-70 f/2.8 for the zoom and the 8mm fisheye as the prime. I was tempted to have the 50mm f/1.8 as the prime but the only benefit that gives me over the zoom is less DoF.

Thought this was going to be easy, its not. id like to be wide, <18mm on a crop. BUT

infact its so hard, and after changing my response at least 6 times, im leaving it blank

for now

70-200 for the zoom and nikon 50mm 1.4 for the prime

Any old zoom, I wouldn't use it and a Pentax FA 20mm f2.8

Does own also mean use, or can you rent/borrow as well?

Zoom Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L
Prime Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro

Zoom: Nikon 24-70G f2.8
Prime: Nikon 105mm VR Micro

Head says 17-55mm f/2.8 for its sheer usefulness but heart says 70-200mm VR because It's so fine for throwing backgrounds OOF.

As for the prime its gotta be the Sigma 14mm... amazing for close focussing, never known anything like it that ain't a fisheye

Sigma 120-300 OS (+converters)
Sigma 150mm OS macro

Though I do like my current combo of 100-400L and the non-OS 150mm macro.

Great question!

I'm stuck between 15-85 and 400mm L

And 100-400mm L and 50mm 1.4

Canon btw.

I think the first option to cover wide angle.

I guess I'm gonna be boringly uncontrovertial:

Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR
Nikkor 50/1.8 G

24mm-70mm zoom and 105mm prime for me (f2.8 on both)

This post just makes me want to buy more lenses!

Hmmm, it's such a hard choice for me. I love my 135L but also would want to have the 70-200 2.8 IS II. I suppose the "sensible" choice would be the 35mm f1.4 and the 70-200. Then again, a 50mm f1.2 would be nice too
