One Stop Digital seem to be highly praised on this forum. Anyone had to pay VAT and import duty on stuff they have bought from them, and was it quick and easy to claim it back from them?

Not sure I can be bothered with the hassle, sounds a bit dodgy as well. Think I'll probably stick with a UK supplier. Any other thoughts anyone...?

I have ordered 3 items from them so far and not paid VAT.

Great service and very quick from them, can't fault them at all.

Pays your money and takes your chances I guess - OSD are much loved around the UK community though.

Myself I placed my first order with them today :)

I think I'd be reluctant to buy any hight value item from overseas if i couldn't get warrnty work done here in the UK, mind you i suppose there's always a Mack warranty....

onestop is worthwhile when you consider that a lot of their prices are very close to 2nd hand in the UK. 2nd hand = no warranty. For the extra £10, Id rather buy new.

Could one of you guys put me right with a query about buying from Hong Kong please.

Is the price advertised, what I would pay HERE, or do I deduct 15%?

The reason I ask is because I could get this lens for only £90 more from Microglobe according to Camera price buster.
That is, unless they are imports from there too.

OSD also states that there is a six month warranty on lenses. Is that also the case with UK warranties?

Thank you.

I do believe Microglobe are grey importers too!

I'd give Kerso (Ian) a PM to see if he can supply it to you at a competitive price. He'd also supply a UK invoice, if that matters to you.

Thanks for the reply Wail.

Does Kerso supply Nikon gear too? I thought it was only Canon.

He does a bit of Nikon stuff too. I've bought from him a year ago; and got a quote from him, a couple of weeks ago, on some items that I've been looking for. His prices are very competitive ; and his service is outstanding too.

I got my 70-300 VR from Ian (many, many moons ago), price and service (as you would expect) were both excellent

Another vote for Kerso. I'd rather know that I've got a UK warranty and Ian's prices are pretty good.

One point about Mack warranties, they don't cover the first year, only subsequent years.
