i need to make a decision, get rid of my 40D or get rid of the 1Dmk11 ! one has to go as i want some decent glass, thing is.....which one ? my love of fast moving things, dogs, bikes, cars etc says keep the 1D but if i sell it and buy some better glass would i manage with the 40d, any thoughts kind people

OR........keep em both and save up for the glass even though i have zero patience in such matters

Not that I'm much help but have taken any pics with your 1D that you reckon you wouldn't have got with your 40D (and vice versa) and whichever comes out with the biggest score is the one to keep

I'd keep the 1D everytime for me but I'm not you. As you have access to both and know how you shoot, you really are best qualified to answer.

cameras loose money much faster then lenses - the 1d range loose money slower...

I sold my 40D and bought a 1DMKII, although the 40D is an excellent camera, I was getting increasingly frustrated by the lack of a/f speed that you get from a pro body, hence the change.

The 1D II is always at the heart of these dilemmas isn't it. It's a troublesome camera really. I have one and a 5D and whilst I prefer the 1d by miles as a tool to work with, there is no denying that the 5d produces a better quality image. So, poor old mk II never sees the light of day. :'(

The thing is though, I reckon that if I HAD to get shot of one, it would be the 5d. The 1D may not have quite as much in the IQ department but it still has enough to hold it's own I reckon and you know it'll bag the shot.

it's the mega autofocus on the 1D thats making the decision difficult, although i do like the auto on the 40D for those mad panic quick click shots and the 40D is easier to use but then i like the feel of the 1D and the fact that it makes me look as though i know what i'm doing...............:shrug:
