Yes
ok i was with british gas for cover for the boiler but i have ended it with them and spat my dummy out due to them rising my nanna off

my boiler is producing gas to the central heating no problem so nice and cosy but our water is luke warm then cold not hot. The engineer come round with my wife been in the house give her you need a new boiler and inline filter after they sent a quote which i will say got refused point blank.

it seems something is blocking the water from getting hot and only a radiator flush and new inline filter will solve the problem at £750 i can get it done locally for £250
any one any idea what would be blocked please , i don't believe births gas for one second

reason for the boiler needing replacing as glow worm don't have parts in stock now which is funny as they still send me letters about my boiler saying to can fix it lol

my dummy spit was due to my nanna worrying she needed a new boiler when she didn't they sales guy convinced her she needed it i told her i want to speak to him but she said she needs it and now it is in her head letter of complaint has gone in the boiler was not even broken.

Most likely is that it is the diverter valve. They get stuck. They're usually about £70-£120 from a plumbing spares place.

How old is the glow worm, is it less than 70% efficient? If so it's probably worth replacing entire thing but use an independent gas safe engineer. BG are utter rip off merchants and will quote about double what a decent indy will quote.

If you find out exact make and model of the boiler then google that with diverter valve you'll probably find it.

Agree with the diverter valve possibility - sounds just like the issues we had. Went through three of the plastic control boxes and they all seized within days. Now have a Honeywell metal controller and it all works as it should.

10 + years i would say

I had the same problem last year, diverter valve needed swapping.....

I'd agree. If either the water is hot and the central heating isn't or the water is cold and the central heating is OK, the first thing to check is the diverter valve. Sometimes they only stick and a little "nudge" will do the job. Otherwise you'll need to replace it. If you've had yours for 10+ years it's likely you'll need a new one.
