Yes
I shall attempt a 30 minute walk along the cycle track unaided by cigarettes. Mobile phone in case of emergency CHECK!! One wife to press buttons on said phone in case of an emergency, CHECK!! Coro-Nitro spray for under the tongue in case of emergency, CHECK!! One wife to spray aforementioned stuff in my mouth in case of emergency, CHECK!! Mind you I feel bloody knackered already, she has had a cup of Tea in bed this morning, that`s two stories to climb :( And I have just finished cooking her breakfast
Rehab my ARSE!!!

You need to take it easy rich.

Do what you can when you can and don't overdo things! It's all to easy to get carried away by the euphoria of surviving a near miss and set yourself back a bit (OK, my relapse was a new problem but it's possible that if I had taken things a bit easier, that new problem wouldn't have occurred!)

Don't walk as far as you can before turning back - walk half as far so you've got the strength to do the return trip! 15 minutes today and 20 tomorrow etc may well be a better option than 30 today and being fnurkled for the rest of the week.

Enjoy the walk!

Take it steady Rich.
Don't over push yourself.

If you are still smoking after your episode I'll personally come down there and remove your heart with a rusty spoon.

For what it's worth I'm now back up to over 300 miles a month walking, cycling, running and rowing. Mind I'm a fair bit younger than you and had two heart attacks. :D

Well I am back again :D Took me a while as I walked 20minutes one way and 40 back home again  In all seriousness we walked about a mile in total. Prior to this I went up the hospital for an ECG. I had phoned the ooh docs to explain that in the moments that I am resting or going to bed, I seem to get moments where I have to draw really deep to feel my lungs with air, so they said nip up to the hospital. The doctor was really good and understanding, explained that my ECG result was very good and the breathing problems were down to anxiety. I have never been one to sit and rest so I am finding it difficult, she advised that if I was happy pottering about and doing things then do it, but be sensible enough not to over do it. Put your cutlery away Brian ;) I have not touched a smoke for 9 days now. That may not seem much for some but for me I think it is pretty good.

It's ****ing brilliant Rich! As (possibly Confucious) a wise man once said, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and 9 days is a good head start.

Glad they seem to be following you up a bit with advice and continued ECGs etc - I suppose A&E gets as busy there as it does here with holidaymakers with bee stings and the like... Keep up the gentle exercise and maybe you'll be allowed to dangle a line in that canal soon - just no bait until they're sure you can handle the excitement!!!

Well done for staying off the smokes rich. Just take it easy. Nice and slow is the way.

Why do you need one wife to press buttons on your phone and one wife to spray your nitro under uour tongue

That's just greedy (and expensive) - having two wives....

Excellent work Brash.

I would love the old me back but since my left ventricle ruptyred I cannot get enough pressure to drive the blood hard enough. Got the cycle machine but if I programme the hill climb I just dont get the power.

Rich is still early in his rehab but I am sure that no more ciggoes and some Stout he will improve beyond where he was in the run up to his MI.

Time commitment and common sense.

Rich and I access the same hospitals and their cardiac units are excellent. Ergo I am still here after 7 years.

7 years ago to the day I had my by pass surgery after arredting 3 timed on May 20 2006. (and again a week later)

You, Rich and I are testament to the availability and skills we have available to us. So many other places in the world are not so lucky.

Rich, listen to these guys. They know what they're talking about.
There's a good boy.

Well done that's a great start. Keep it up;)

Cheers again guy`s, yes Ruth I am listening to them. It is always good to have someone around who can speak from first hand experience. What did choke me a little was a couple of old guy` in the ward with me at the time who had nobody to come and visit them, I spent what time I could chatting and listening to their stories of days gone by :) It is obviously going to be much worse for them when they get out as far as coping with things, ok I know they will probably have health visitors etc, but that does not compare to having a partner on hand to talk to or close friends such as you lot on TP.
Thanks again for the support and it is much appreciated.
Rich

Good news Rich, don`t push it at first mate, take your time.

Good news on the cigs as well, i`m bloody hopeless at packing them in, works out fine until I get back into work.
