Trying to remember the name of a cough/cold mixture/syrup I used to have a youngster. It might still be around for all I know, I know there were a few around so this might throw up a few names, I am sure once I see it I will know. It was as most were Brown in colour, really warming to the throat and almost addictive. from memory I am sure it was added to a drop of hot water. so cough it up guy`s.

A few years ago, I was coughing quite badly* so I went to a shop and bought some cough mixture. I got in the car, opened the bottle and took a large sip. As I took the bottle away from my mouth I read the words 'Dilute with water' on the label!

(* actually, I was coughing very well and could probably have won a coughing competition).

Steve.

That's got to be one of the best tasting meds going :D
That and Calpol. When the kids are poorly I don't bother getting the stuff the doctors give out. I'd rather buy some Calpol and I can lick the spoon :naughty:

It came to me just a moment ago like these things do. And yup I got it confused as that is for settling stomaches.
Collis Browne's Mixture

Now if you can just remember where you parked the car you'll be laughing :D

I do remember it, bit of a cure-all mix I think.

`For the alleviation of coughs and the symptoms of diarrhoea`

I suppose coughing too hard, can lead to following through, so they have both bases covered!

Haha, love this; http://www.oddee.com/item_96498.aspx

Cocaine toothache drops (c. 1885) were popular for children. Not only would the medicine numb the pain, but it could also put the user in a "better" mood. :wacky:

Yip, cocaine and heroin were both used in some readily available medications, and there were cigarettes advertised as mild and particularly suitable for children with chest problems....................

We used to have Obridges (or something like that) it was like creosote :D

Owbridges :D

Thanks for the memory jog :D
